To my knowledge, several states use the word "borough" to describe a district. 

NYC is a consolidation of several counties and former cities (Brooklyn was America's 4th largest city). 

5 different counties make up NYC. It makes a mess out of it...

My MIL woes continue, house sale closes in 2 weeks, the day before we came up to 'help' her move she tells us she doesn't have anywhere to go because all her scheming failed.

She then managed to get herself admitted to hospital where they discovered that the valves in her heart have failed and they also decided she has dementia (not convinced of that, I suspect her scheming got her a diagnosis she is now stuck with...)

So she's now in a temporary assisted living facility and we have to negotiate medicaid to make it permanent and we have removed over 2 tons of junk from her house and have a huge dumpster full of more

 

I'm happy to swap my life with anyone right now 🤣

They never do give up, do they! I hope you get her settled and can get back home soon. I am SO lucky my SIL got stuck with clearing out my MIL's house. It took her 6 weeks, and I am sure she loved every minute of it.😁

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Mini-B. exited skool today and announced to the world, at full volume, "FREEDOM!  Freedom from the chains of elementary skool!"

 

Another parent said, "Freedom from elementary skool?!"

But it's funny you mention that. Because, this morning, when I cooked breakfast for the kids, bacon eggs and toast...memories of me getting up for school with nothing around to eat was in my head. I was pretty miserable, I remember those years vividly. It sucked.
