Old co-worker took his own life on the 31st.  It's so sad. People don't realize how difficult the veterinary profession is.  They just say vets are trying to get money for running tests etc... when really how else are they supposed to diagnose your pets?  Vet techs are just like nurses only more so.  They're dental hygienists, nurses, and anesthesiologists.  They give shots, do xrays, and do everything to keep your pet happy and safe and get paid a pittance to do so. I know what it's like to be in the dark place, and even in the happy place where you don't want to be in the dark again. It's just so sad.  He was so nice and always helpful.

Very sorry to hear that. Vet techs are awesome people, I worked in animal research for a while with a lot of vet techs, definitely one of the most undervalued professions in society. Thank you for all your hard work!

PRG tried to watch football with me a few times (even to the point of finding a dodgy online stream of a Syracuse game I was watching once).

 

Now she goes to the other room and/or watches Russian shows on her phone (though she knows the guys in Orange the good guys -- unless UVA or Clemson or some other fake Orange team tries to confuse the issue :bonk:) and says not to be sad when they lose.

Assembled mini-Dave's crib yesterday (good thing we did this now while PRG could still help -- it's amazing how useful having another person around is for this kind of thing even if it's just an extra pair of hands; also helps to start on step 1 of directions, not step 2). When I was just about finished, I realized the last two bolts were not fastening properly.

 

After various attempts to make them work failed, I measured the things and find they were two of the shorter version of the same kind of bolt rather than the longer one, which meant that either I'd used the long ones instead of the short ones somewhere or they'd made a mistake. So I went through trying every possible place the wrong bolts could have been used ... and of course it's the last two it could have been that were wrong. Frustrating, but final assembly was completed just before the coin toss for the Super Bowl, and now mini-Dave has a place to lie down that is not in our bed with about twelve weeks to go ...

Himself appears to be happy with his new gadget. I didn't realize Alexa is built in, I thought he was talking to himself there for a second. That has worked out great, if he can't see the app he's looking for, he just has her open it. Sheesh. She even understands him in spite of his speech impediment.

Not been in here for a long time!

Still working crazy hours but I negotiated a pay raise and a long weekend every month :)

On January 30th I became a United States Citizen, I almost can't believe that we're done with USCIS for good!

 

Hope everyone is doing well :)

Well the poo is finally hitting the fan at work.  A dude moved out, like Friday with no notice and took all of his equipment.  For some reason my SLT doesn't think ahead. We knew he'd eventually move but not when.  

With a slew of client complaints, rightfully so, they finally have to put on their big girl and boy pants and do something.  I hope it's not more ambiguous garbage like they already did.
