That's two stories now, one from Maine and one from California where dead chicks were found that were being shipped and had incurred USPS mail delivery delay. I didn't even know shipping live chicks was a thing? Does Ontarkie engage in this activity?

Shipping of chicks is pretty common. Some times it is the only way to find certain breeds or a large number. I get mine from TSC or local FB groups. Although TSC does get them from the factory and the ship them through USPS. We did order fertilized eggs and ship some too. Until recently eggs would be fine shipped but the last time, it was like USPS toss the box in the air several times and kicked it 100 more. The poor eggs were like scrambled. We filed a complaint. They denied it and I appealed it and won. We had enough pictures and tracking info.

I have a friend who is now at day 5 for her chicks and she is crying because they are probably all dead. The post office is telling her they never arrived. Seems like they picked up the package then parked it someone so nobody will find.

The factory send mails the as 1-2 day shipping. Chicks do not need to eat or drink during that time as they are still absorbing their yoke sack. At day 5 they would be starving and possible depending on the location dying of heat or cold.

My sister has bought chicks online and they have always arrived safely (through USPS)....but her last delivery was last year.

So......

I just found out my grandmother has COVID. She's in hospice right now (I should add....she's not in hospice because she was ill....she's was in hospice because she is uncontrollable and refused medical advice and treatment and took swings at medical staff because they wouldn't give her wine) I think they started giving her stronger tranquilizers and she seemed to be happy for a while......

Well....here I go.....down the rabbit hole.....

I promise.....I'm not being flippant about the virus or death.....it's just my grandmother is (I'm trying desperately to find words for her) such a strong woman that we'll have to see what happens.....

I had 4   one day old chicks shipped from Meyer hatchery Ohio Monday Aug 10th. USPS Tracking had them in Kansas City Tuesday evening .. where they promptly sat for 24 hours .. should have received them in SW MO Wednesday but they finally arrived Thursday. Thankfully all 4 cheepers were strong and healthy .. and now well into their second week ... but it could have easily been a different ending ...

Oh yes it could have been bad. Even precovid it has happened more then once. I think they are just seeing an influx because when they had no eggs in stores they had an influx of new chicken keepers/orders.
