In things that I'm glad we got taken care of before mini-Dave arrives ...

 

Way back on New Year's Day, after returning home from visiting family in Florida, PRG was doing laundry; machine abruptly stops during second load.

I contacted the property manager, after some nagging, he said he contacted an appliance repair company and sent me their number.

When no one calls me by Friday, I call them, guy says he's on vacation, earliest he can make it is next Tuesday. Oh well, I'm not paying for this.

 

Meanwhile, I search interwebz to find laundromat that's reasonably clean and not too far away because we were on vacation for a week and it's been three more days so we're pretty short on clean clothes. This turns out to be simpler than expected, other than $2 charge to get a card for machines (fortunately, I did not throw this out right away).

 

Guy who PRG can barely understand visits on Tuesday, takes a look at washing machine, says he fixed the problem but there's a leak and we need to call a plumber.

Another round of talking to property manager, and plumber comes by Saturday. First says something about not being able to do some things without access to downstairs condo, but then does some testing and says actually washing machine is leaking.

 

So another round at the laundromat, and talk to the property manager again (managed to be finished with less than forty cents left on laundry card; would have tried for zero, but pricing made that difficult).

 

Guy comes by with replacement washing machine, which does not leak, but backed up drain appliance guy saw was still there. At this point I'm reconsidering plan to stay in this place until mini-Dave needs his own room. PRG's kindness prevents acts of violence toward repair persons or property manager.

 

Plumber comes by again on Thursday, but still can't fix drain without access to downstairs condo (at this point I just want a working washing machine, and don't care if we cause a backup in downstairs neighbors who don't answer their doorbell). I left a note on neighbors' door and property manager tried to contact them (apparently prior residents moved).

 

Get text from property manager while we're at childbirth class that he's set up a time on Sunday morning where we'll have access to downstairs.

Plumber comes by (third time), and neighbors don't answer the door again. Fortunately some calling around gets property owner to say they'll be there in 20 minutes, he gets started, and within an hour finally have working washing machine and no backed up drains. After almost three weeks. And I'm finally relaxed about that.

Everything's working now, and backlog of dirty clothes has been washed (presuming when mini-Dave gets here, this will not be the case for another 20 years or so). Just took almost three weeks.

Mini-DA's clothes will be cute and little for some time, si wee man.

They fit very comfortably in with other loads, see man.

You will want to buy Many,000 rectangular rags/cloths for wipe-mouthing, burping, etc., start now man.

We bought these for next to nothing at GSs and even thrift stores, best place man.

When Mini-DA outgrows them, use them for other projects, durable man.

 

Just talking about the above makes us pine for another Mini-B., not possible any longer man...

Mrs. T-B. disappeared for another Many (2+2) hours of "deliver papers to my client, return stuff to Kohl's and Walmart, and go to my jeem," spend some time at the casa already man.

 

On Thurs., Mini-B. observed, "Mommy spends more time texting her clients than she spends with you & me, Daddy," perceptive wee man.

 

After another record-breaking week of POTS sales, we brought Burger King home for a guys' din-din, si man.

Mini-B. ate his entire Whopper and half his small fries, chip off parental block wee man.

We ate our entire Whopper and all our/Mini-B.'s fries, We Got Your Back si we man.

 

Mini-B. then wanted to play blocks, been many moons since that man.

We built separate towers of them, constructive we man.

From across the room, Mini-B. then threw, in turn, The Explorer, Mugman, & Mr. Shark at them, throw wee man.

We built & rebuilt towers for almost an hour, great fun man.

 

When tired, we read Mini-B. facts about the American Flag from old Jack & Jill magazine, read we man.

This piece was from when the U.S. had just Many (2x2x2x2x2 + 2x2x2x2) states, history man.

Mini-B. fascinated about factoids about flag & states, from piece and we man.

 

Mrs. T-B. of course not back by bedtime, abscond she man.

We were dead-tired and wanted to nap, need zzz we man.

Mini-B. asked to stay up a little later to read:  "You won't even know I'm here, no man," quoth wee man.

We agreed with wee man, si we to wee man.

 

Before we closed our eyes, Mini-B. called us, call we wee man:

"Daddy, did you know that a newborn Great White Shark is as big as you are, huh man?"

We determined that said newborn was almost as big as Mrs. T-B. instead, she smaller than we man.

When we awoke to alarm in 2 hours, Mini-B. was asleep next to us, zzz wee and male bonding man.

 

We texted Mrs. T-B., suggesting that we call the rubias man.

She said, "I'm coming back from Walmart now," about time she man.

We surreptitiously blocked her from entering the casa from garage, poetic justice man.

She asked, "Why did you do that, huh man," ask she of we man.

We said, "It's a variant of yelling 'YAAAAAH!' when you come through the door, si man," say we man.

Before she fell asleep, we had a little talk with her about priorities, inform we she man.

Maybe she will change her Saturday plan for a Many-hour ([2+2+1]-hour) hair appointment, we're watching man.

Hanging on in there, following T-Bone's plan(apart from the toilet seats that is) college is great & it's good for me to be doing something, & I've managed to raise $294 so far for the Polar Plunge tomorrow. My target is $500 so one last big PUSH *she hinted(pm me for info to donate-even a coupla dollarinos it all add up!!).
I'm gonna attempt to put my UK tax stuff together tonight having realised it needs to be in by the end of this month or I'll begin accruing fines as much as 1000 quid per day! Yikes)....but first food!!
