Interview not at my local office - how about Oath?

I live just 40' from Nashville TN, so I assumed my interview was going to be there, but I was scheduled for Memphis, more than 3 hours from home. I am not complaining, though, because apparently this makes my case go faster!

 

My question is, does this mean I will also be scheduled for the Oath ceremony in Memphis? Or do they give you the closest date no matter what location? Also, I know both Memphis and Nasvhille hold judicial ceremonies (I requested a name change - not decided about it, though), but I can't find their dates anywhere to see how often at each place. Does anybody know about this?

 

I am planning on asking all this to the officer during my interview next month, but I am impatient, lol.

Doesn’t answer your question but just curious. Did you get notification that your case was transferred to a different office?

No, I did not, and I thought of asking about this too. 

The USCIS website says, "To process applications faster, we are moving some of our application work to other field offices. Therefore, you might receive a notice (for example, for an interview or a Request for Evidence) that comes from another field office that has not handled your case before." Actually, Memphis is where I had my AOS interview back when Nashville FO didn't exist, so Memphis did handle my case before. Also, it says "might receive"...

Interesting. 
 

So if one lives in an area that has an office with a lower processing time your chances of getting an application run quicker are much higher. 
 

And the opposite if you don’t.

Your Oath can take place in anyone of the oath ceremony dates

we are near Chattanooga and interviewed in Nashville / oath in Chattanooga

One of my New Yorker friend had her N-400 interview at NJ, but she had her oath taking in NY. 

Not sure if its the same on your State.

The Oath ceremony could be near Nashville. The interview is done at the USCIS office, oath ceremonies can be done anywhere, courts, schools or city halls.

Yeah, I found that pdf, but it only has the East District dates. I didn't find dates for Middle and West districts.

I just wonder if they assign you the oath ceremony according to the closest date or by location or what? I mean, USCIS is so full of surprises, lol

Also, if I decide to pursue the name change, it would need to be a judicial ceremony, and these may not be held as often as the administrative ones.

If the Oath ceremony is scheduled at a court, then most likely they can change your name there. If the Oath ceremony was scheduled at a school for example, they will skip you on that one and wait for a ceremony at a court.

they sent man from Knoxville to memphis to interview

he did oath in Nashville

they send you any place in the state with an open spot for the oath

Ok you are very lucky that I am here to answer your question lol I been through this USCIS called me for interview at Memphis office and ceremony at Nashville and I do live in Clarksville now here is few tips if you want faster process then ask officer to call you for oath ceremony in Memphis if not they will take about a month to transfer your case for oath ceremony Nashville does judicial oath ceremonies everyone month.

I live in Nashville but interview was in Memphis on Nov 25th, Officer said Oath will be in Nashville, still waiting for Oath to be scheduled .  Dont' rely on Online status . After my interview on same day status changed to approved but again after 25 day status changed to " transferred to another office for review" . My husband had interview in Memphis on Dec 13 th, his status changed to transferred to different office on 13 th and later to approved on same day. We both waiting for Oath ceremony but Oath ceremony will be in Nashville.
