Waiting for VAWA while apply for Canada PR

Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone has experience about applying or/and maintaining Canada greencard?

I filed VAWA in Sept 2019, and it seems will take 24 months to get I360 approved, then almost another 20 months to get I485 interview. So I was thinking to apply for Canada greencard which should get approved much faster, then I may go back to my home country. However, my VAWA attorney is very against the Canada Greencard idea. She is worried it will bring conflicts that USCIS won't approve my VAWA or I won't be able to maintain US greencard. From what I understand, Canada Greencard just need to be physically present 2 years out of 5 would meet maintaining greencard requirements. And there are many people applying Canada greencard with US greencard pending or already approved.

But I was wondering if anyone knows that if VAWA is a special Greencard application, that they will consider if this applicants holds other country's residency in addition to the home country? Thank you!

VAWA is not a special green card application.  You can only receive your greencard through the I-485 application.  Just because your VAWA is approved, does not mean your greencard will be approved.

This is a great point. This is also a reason I would like to apply for Canada Greencard as a back-up. But I'm not sure if I had Canada Greencard would cause trouble for USCIS approving my I-485 based on VAWA if approved. Thank you!
