Hello,

Soooo... my fiance had the interview this past Friday. This is what happened.

His appointment was at 7:20am. and by 8:00am he was out of the consulate.

Three simple questions:

1) Who's the person sponsoring you?

2) What does the person sponsoring you do for living?

3) Where does the person sponsoring you work?

After that she requested a new document that as of March 3rd they started requesting it is called Public Ministry Public Records (Antecedentes del Ministerio Publico). since we did not have it or were aware of it, the CO a very nice lady told my fiance:

You do qualify for the visa but since you do not have the complete documents I am refusing you. I need for you to send this documents by mail with your passport and we will review your application again.

We sent the document and the passport they were asking this past Friday so we just have to wait and see I guess... Any feedback would be appreciated if anyone encountered something similar???  What are your thoughts ?

Hey! We're on the same boat.

My fiance had his interview on 3/10 but forgot to prepare his name change documents.

Everything is sent and received by consulate now but every time I check on CEAC tracking, my heart sinks looking at "REFUSED" status...

And I really hope this is still moving but who knows at this point with pandemic virus.

I hope everyone is doing fine and healthy!

Hey Sarah,

So I know the feeling, but good news, if you have sent all the documents they were requesting you will get approved. Make sure to tell your fiance to follow their instructions carefully.

I got approved after 5 days. Something I noticed when you go to the CEAC tracking website and put your case number from USCIS you will get the refused and that would update a few days later but if you try to use the other option where you can put the application ID, from the DS-160 the information got updated quicker.

My biggest concern now is after having the Visa K1 the validity is only 6 months, hope this Covid19 goes away before that 6 month mark.

I do not know what would happen if our fiances are not able to travel and come to US with this virus going on.

Your timeline doesn't indicate that you have an approved/issued visa so 6 months doesn't affect you. BTW not all K-1 visa's are 6 months, the validity date is determined by the medical examination ppl. in conjunction with the embassy. I have seen some with one month validity.

@Greenbaumthank you for your reply. What do you think is gonna happen. What if the visa expires and they are not able to come in to the US due to the virus? How would we go about that?

I'm studying the stats this morning, and China is starting to level off. Germany is having a tough go at it now as they have had approx 2K more cases in just one day. Those countries that are either in lockdown, Italy, for instance or semi lockdown like the USA we'll start to seeing the number of cases begin to fall. We have to get through at least 14 days of isolation, and we should turn the corner on this disease. But the worst is yet to come, and that is the financial markets and businesses. I can only imagine what that will be like on those who are self-employed or their country is not as strong as the broader economy countries who can pump their economy with money.

We'll still need to steady the course.

Just remember to love your neighbor, and if you have a "god," keep your faith candle burning in the window for you and others.

Be strong!

yeah...it's a big concern for me as well.

We are supposed to move into a new apartment in April too and bought new cell phone and line and everything.

But now the visa and the date of entry into US became uncertain as I don't know how long it will take till his visa comes out or how long the border shut down will last and etc.

Buuuut I'm hoping for the best!!! I'm hoping he will get faster visa since in person interviews are cancelled and all personnel will work on documents and administrative processing,

and will get into US fine as visa holder. Fingers crossed!

Today is an impatient day for me. Just wish the virus situation was over already and we could go forward in the visa process. Ahhhhhhh.

Deep breaths, there are worse things then waiting for a visa. This too shall pass.

I really hope visas start getting processed out of AP after border shutdown is lifted on 20th (for Canada) and elsewhere in the world (I read some cases in Singapore and India or Indonesia moving along).

Fingers crossed! Cuz I do not know how long my patience will last.

I wouldn't hold my breath for April 20th. Nothing is in place that states for a fact that the visa process begins again. Dates are fluid so is the process. We all have some time for waiting for this to start again.

People including myself are worried and missing their SO, nothing wrong with being hopeful.

And I have a feeling consulates will start processing those latest starting in May but that's just my expectations and yes nothing is officially said.

You always return people's hopeful wishes and comments with satire...I know you're just trying to make them realize and spend less time counting down useless time since no one knows when this is going to be over as a veteran in this site..

But sometimes you just gotta let it go and just show some sympathy...

Because you can clearly tell what I wrote isn't an official comment asking for any kind of assistance or information but merely just a hopeful comment to boost people who are waiting patiently to meet their loved ones just like I am.

anyways, thanks for your input.

I’m too am of the opinion that we still have some waiting to do. Plus, the response to the situation from an epidemiological perspective has been much better in my country then in the US. It does give me a certain sense of security in such a crazy time. So in a way I am grateful to be stuck here for now, I know the stress of moving to a new country would have been that much worse because of the situation.

As painful as the separation is and as impatient as I can get, there are silver linings here.

I've been down this road and know what the speedbumps are. I give straight forward answers to your questions. I don't sugar coat anything because this is a journey that doesn't need a mistake to be made. I give factual information and sometimes that information is in satirical nature for emphasis. I know how easy this process is and I convey that to you and others. You're making more of this process then there needs to be. Wait until you are on the other side of the fence and you look back, you'll know what I am conveying here.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be
       completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

I know a thing or two because I have seen a thing or two. Good luck on your journey
