Listen imma straight up tell you. Yall are better off getting married in Nigeria instead of doing k1. They deny k1 easily and you cant fight for it because your not married. With the age gap and short time frame the CO may deny the petition because he chooses too. Idk if you watch 90 day fiance but michael and angela on the show same situation hes young shes older they denied him. My husband is nigerian we got married and files cr1/ir1  it takes longer but it's better to wait through this process than yo do k1 wait almost 1nyr get denied have to get married then apply for cr1/ir1 and wait 2yrs. If yall love each other I say next time she comes get married let her come back and file then she can come back to visit you again. And the waiting will build yalls relationship history

Thanks for your reply. We plan to have our engagement party in March before she applies and she’ll also be back in August again to make it 3 time be the interview. We are also planning on IVF or adopting a child and visited the orphanage 2 times. We have pictures to back it up. Will this increase our chances??

trying to adopt will  not help you

many from other countries try to bring a relative here thru adoption

the rules for are  harder than you getting a visa (probably not going to happen)

I think (and i could be wrong) but many countries make the couple live with the adopted child 2 years to even start the process

i stand corrected if wrong on that issue

but i do know if either of the parents is still alive,  immigration will not issue a visa for the child

and again,  an engagement party in Nigeria is often looked at as too married for a K1 visa

have you read thru the posts for your country by clicking on the word portal above?

I’m guessing it’s not cheap either?

Nope not in the US - between the iui (another kind of fertility treatment you can try before ivf) and the two ivf rounds it was $40,000 to $50,000. The fees for the IVF were  $10,000 each time then the meds are around $5000 to $7500 depending on what dosage you need and what different meds you need. We were lucky though the iui was 50% paid by my insurance but the ivf we had to fund by ourselves. This isn’t counting all of the tests you have to do before hand.

It would have been cheaper back in the UK but should we have had embryos to freeze for subsequent tries then we would have been on a different continent and have to keep going back and forth for further treatment (wasn’t an issue as we had none to freeze anyway). This also adds cost (storage, thawing, and meds for the frozen cycles).

All her kids wrote a reference letter to help prove our relationship is real including her sister.

This is not going to be useful to your case at all.  A letter proves nothing.

OP, is she willing to move to Nigeria to be with you, if you are denied?  I would say your chance for approval is low, with all of the red flags, including the fact that you won't be able to have kids together.

The interviewing officer at the Lagos consulate will be looking to figure out whether your relationship would exist (i.e. the USC moving to Nigeria) if there was not a US green card involved.

Thank you so very much for your response. I really do appreciate it. Me and my fiancé have decided to do a court wedding when she comes back on her second trip here which will be automatically be 8 months after meeting. We plan on going to Ghana for our honeymoon and then she can go back and file for a Cr1 visa. My fear, hope the age difference wouldn’t still affect us?? We do have pictures and before the interview, she’ll visit again in August and also again to make it 4 times she visited. Will this help us and more better credible than the K1 since we are going to be married here. And for the kids we are trying our best and also thinking of IVF.

would rather shoot myself in the foot than have another kid

Same here.  I turned fiddy this year, and my children are successful adults who have fledged the nest.  The only babies I want are grand babies in like 5-10 years!

Really?!  At 54?  I can't even imagine a 54 year old woman going through a pregnancy, let alone all of the stages of raising a child.  Who wants to be dealing with teaching a 16 year old to drive at age 70?!

Time together cures red flags.......so if she moved to Nigeria for a while, it would help a lot.
