221g Administrative Processing.

My interview in Montreal was Dec 3, for a k1 visa. I was missing a document regarding my daughter and so received a 211g. I was told this was the only issue and the paperwork essentially had to arrive, be approved, and our visas would be sent. The interviewer seemed very confident that it would be fairly quick and simple.

I sent the required paper in ASAP and they last updated my case Dec 16th, and my daughters Dec 18th. Mine is at the administrative processing stage, and hers is at ready which is has been since before our interview. I'm not sure why hers is listed differently when we were told all interviews are done together (she's 11.)

I haven't been able to find what appears to be up to date information, but was wondering how long does AP normally take in cases like this and is there anything we can do to speed it up?

You speed it up by avoiding it.

SInce it is the holidays you just have to wait.

K2s are dependant on the K1 being completed.  Once yours is done hers should update.

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I have a 221g as well at Montreal (for a different reason) and I sent my requested documents on November 6th and have yet to be “issued”. It’s been 7 weeks. I’m praying it’s not much longer. Good luck to you! Its different for everyone.

Hi, I'm in a similar situation. I just re-sent my documents with my passport as well. I am told it could take 6 - 8 weeks.

@rveenhof  @Terribelle  How long until you got yours?

Did you attempt to follow up with the embassy during this time?

Thanks!

Hi!

It took 11 weeks from the day I sent my documents until I was “Issued”. (But this was during the Christmas holidays so there were so many days when the embassy was closed) Good luck! Try focusing on being with your friends and family and preparing to move. It’ll be here before you know it!

And I didn’t email the embassy until around the 8 week mark. Emailing doesnt do much, they just tell you to wait. But if you have no updates by 8 weeks, it still doesn’t hurt to send out an email inquiring about your case!

Hi guys, just wondering, when you get the 221g, does your CEAC status say "Refused"? 😫

Yes, but it will have bunch of explanation underneath the status.

Thanks @:Sarah:. Mine doesn't have an explanation underneath but the interviewer did explain that because of COVID my visa category (IR-1) was not being processed at this time....

@rveenhof did you receive an email or some sort of contact before your case changed to "Issued"? And @Terribelle, is your visa complete by now too?

I'm trying to get an idea of what normal processing times are since my AP seems to in un-chartered territory due to COVID affected closings...

Thanks, Terribelle. I'm glad you got your visa before right on time before COVID.

May I ask where you were seeing these updates while you are on AP? Is it the CEAC status check site? I have been on AP, and they asked my passport last week, but my status says "Refused".

From what I've heard, "Refused" is the normal terminology for AP these days. It's a really confusing and intimidating word to use. Your timeline said you did your interview a few weeks ago, did they just ask for your passport last week?
