Well, if he is committing impeachable offenses after the articles were presented and voted on, it seems that they could be investigated too.

There seems to be plenty of violations of the emoluments clause, in addition to corruption. Lucky for the republicans, they have elected a gerrymandered group of boot licking sycophants, so nothing will come of a senate trial. Like President Trump said himself, he could murder someone in broad daylight in the middle of times square, and nobody would do anything about it.

Hey look we have a new person here on CEHST....  The Democrats could have went after him on the emoluments issue but they didn't, they only went after him because he went after one of the Democrats for corruption.

The receipt if something of value for your campaign in exchange for political consideration is a violation of the emoluments clause in addition to the FEC violation AND abuse of power.

The emoluments clause violations were more regarding Trump insisting on using Trump properties for official stays. The situation with Mike Pence in Ireland was pretty egregious. But those seem to be small compared to blackmailing an ally to dig up dirt on a potential political opponent.

The standard to impeach isn't the same as to convict of a state or federal crime. Article 1, section 3, Clause 7 states:

" Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States; but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law. "

I want you to imagine what would happen if a police force investigated someone without allowing them the right to an attorney and then charged them with a crime but refused to hand the case over to the district attorney unless the DA agreed to the same unethical biased behavior as the police force.
