When awaiting for your case from NVC (and thus onwards to LONDON) - I know frm reading the PDF you wait 2 weeks then you can call up (in theory) - but will mechanism if you didnt call would the NVC tell yuo you have a case number?

Do you wait for it to get to LONDON and they tell you?

NVC sends an email to the petitioner saying to file is off to London and gives the new case number. The embassy in London sends a letter to the beneficiary saying they have received the approved petition. It includes the case number, a photocopy of the approved petition, and says to apply for the visa using the instructions found on their website https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

Many thanks.

So the only way of getitng the CASE NO earlier is to call the NVC as per PDF instructions?

I've tried to make sense of the postal tracking hacks, but in reality - is it just better to get the number by calling / wait for the letter (from London) then move on?

Its an odd feeling after a flury of activitiy to wait again like this, I feel like I am missing a trick. Having gotten jabs and Police report etc...

I don't even know what PDF you are talking about.  Immigration involves waiting for things to get to the next place. Obsessing just creates stress in my opinion. Sure, call them and wait on hold a long time. What significant benefit is that going to get you? You still need the letter or email to show at the clinic. Your case still has to arrive in London before the system will let you in to book an appointment. It's the holidays when things slow down and people take off work even government workers and clinics, but if saving a few days time is the biggest thing in your life right now, then go for it. Once you get to the US, you'll just wait some more to get a driver license, a SSN, a work permit, a greencard, see your family again.

Anyway - Obsessing is stressful. Of course. It's a balancing act - of worrying, being proactive, etc... I know that HMG / US-Gov slows down at Christmas. Does it ever speed up really? Waiting isn't my issue, understanding the process is.

I mean, this week through new year there are many people taking holiday, so less people to answer phones or emails etc. I've know the medical clinic to completely close in the past for the end of the year.

What do you not understand about the process? How to try to jump the queue or something specific about the actual process in London.  Have you read the K1 instructions from London? Clicked every link? Read all the FAQs and details on their website. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visa-faqs/

I find they provide a lot of info and detail you don't always get in forum replies.

Have you read everything on the Visa Medicals website?  http://www.visamedicals.co.uk/us.htm

Are you positive you have all the shots? Do you have your medical summary from your GP and any special reports if you've had any significant conditions or surgeries?  You could work on your DS-160 right now if you're  anxious to be doing something.
