Amend prior year's return before filing new return?

Hi,

Seeking tax advice here as my wife is expected to come to U.S late March or April next year. I filed 2018's tax as MFS, and of course I would like to amend it to MFJ when she gets her SSN next year. Since it will be close to IRS deadline of April 15th, I will most likely file an extension request. Now the issue is that it takes 8-12 weeks for the IRS to process the amended 2018 tax. Do I have to wait that long to file my 2019 tax as the IRS would process my 2019 tax before  the amended 2018 one(E-filing is quicker than paper filing). I have capital loss carried forward(MFS $1500 allowed, MFJ $3000), so once i file the 2019 return, it will have inconsistent data flagged in IRS system.  Thank you in advance if anybody can help!
