You said sexual assault, not I.  But of course you KNEW I was referring to the "locker room talk" in the audio you brought up for no reason at all.

To believe the left really think this is sexual assault, one has to either believe:

1) They're not smart (to put it nicely)

or

2) They're so desperate to get rid of Trump they don't care how ridiculous it sounds they just want their way

I suspect a little from both, but experience and observation/research leans me heavily toward 2. When we look at the Ukraine show put on in the House committees, people were solicited to say their feelings and how non-evidence of things could cause one to conclude its evidence of things. The left aren't really so dumb to think this is actual evidence, and especially the litany of lawyers who deal with this sort of thing on a daily basis for the last several decades. The same way "let you" somehow means the complete opposite of what we all understand it to mean. No one really thinks this.

It's like an adult version of watching children learning to manipulate things and learn about boundaries (the extent of their behavior and how far they can go until they don't get their way anymore). They want their way, and when they don't, they do things, and once they attempt something that results in their way, they don't strategically employ it, they just get into a feeding frenzy and do it repeatedly until the jig is up. It's the same thing here. The left know how illogical they're being, they feel that, sure, they might get some naive people that believe them, or some politically correct people (politicians/business leaders/etc) that placate to them (because its appeal to image and not logic), but for the rest, by kicking up enough dust, those people will tire of their antics and ultimately give them their way because they just don't want the conflict. The end result is all that matters.

Indeed, clearly not understood in some circles, like the post above trying to square the circle:

- The AH tape was true (even though the tape being shown is what demonstrated its validity)

- Therefore it gives validity to the cherrypicked article that doesn't give the audio in question but apparently has it (not presenting its source)

Association fallacy, assuming that B is true because A is like B and therefore valid by associating A with B when they are quite different. It's an irrelevant association, and clearly done simultaneously as an appeal to emotion by people who think they understand things when they're just irrationally and reflexively jumping on (+parroting) confirmation bias.
