Filing for an EAD under (a)(6) - based on K-1 status - both requires the fee and would expire at the end of your legal status (90 days from POE). It currently takes ~4-7 months to get approval. As such, it's a huge waste of money.

Maybe with filing ASAP and an expedite you could get a couple weeks of use, but you would lose that at the end of the 90 days anyway. Not sure many employers want to wait for an EAD (several weeks even with an expedite) to hire somebody for just a couple weeks, but it's not impossible I guess.

She entered us October 22nd so that pretty much around 60 days already.

Sorry you wasted all those money for nothing. Hope you can file AOS soon and then EAD with that but you should prepare yourself to be unemployed until summer.

FYI: You easily determine processing times of some common applications such as I-765 and I-131 by checking into your USCIS account, or the VJ stats: https://www.visajourney.com/times/. No one can accurately predict when you will actually get your document(s) in the mail, those stats can tell you the form submission dates that are currently being processed. :clock:

BTW, If I could tell you exactly when you would actually get your document(s) in the mail, I would be selecting the next winning lottery numbers.....

Good luck on your immigration journey, and Happy Holidays !!

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

Hope u didnt pay $400-$500 for the EAD. If not sent with AOS or with an AOS receipt and category C9 by the time you receive it will be expired.

I am afraid you just threw a lot of money away.

You should have waited until you get the marriage certificate (some places you can get them within a couple of days or even the SAME day), filed AOS and concurrently filed for the EAD/AP. There would not have been an additional fee for the EAD/AP had you done that.

As it stands, you are unlikely to receive your EAD any time soon, and you need to file AOS anyways. With the EAD (were it even possible/likely) alone, you only have until your k1 visa expires, and you are already coming up on that.

Research is your friend.

i 485, 130, EAD and AP

04/09/2019    NOA1 received/check cashed i 485 and 130 (direct adjustment)

11/7/2019      Interview- Norfolk

11/10/2019    APPROVED (notification rec'd 11/10, approval dated 11/8)

CR1 for Child under 21 (20 at time of filing)- Filed by LPR Spouse for his son

OP,  you really need to read the guides!  You seem to be missing much valuable info about the steps to take.
