A university studied the water quality on planes. You may want to skip the coffee on these two airlines

I would have to see the criteria used before making  a judgement. Are the testing for just bacteria or also for particulates and contaminates?

where did they catch the samples ?

did  the test aggregate samples across several flights  or catch one sample on one flight?

Did they allow for other possible contaminants such as the faucet tip, prior bathroom use or other things used in serving ?

Lastly what kind of special idiot would drink tap water on an Airplane

I never take anything in the media at face value

While they performed tests that were nowhere near the standards of the SDWA, the only methodology I'll accept to be okay with drinking plane water is them exhuming George Carlin's corpse and zombie George telling me I won't get cancer drinking the plane's port-a-potty water.

ALL airlines have potable water supplies that become bacteria-infected from time to time.  The same as ANY small-tank storage system does.  And they require regular testing and purification.

And as NB pointed out, no one drinks tap water on a plane today.   Coffee and tea, yes. But that water is nearly boiled.

Well, to be fair, water needs to be boiled for at least 5 minutes to be "safe".  Hence the boil rule anytime a city's water supply breaks.

The same problem applies at any coffee shop that doesn't have a piped-in water supply to their machines.  Bacteria can grow in water holding tanks, and they must be sanitized, but aren't always on the prescribed interval.

I would also like to know if they sampled several planes from each carrier or picked one at random

Spirit and Jet Blue tied for the worst scores? Didn't actually need a study to come up with that result.

Gonna make a sandwich for this one

Well If nothing else comes out of this, then at least we now know that you make your own sandwiches.

That was low and a visceral personal attack on my manhood
