Hi All,

My husband and I filed the 1485 along with work authorization and advance parole in early November. On November 15th, we got 3 texts from USCIS indicating receipt of each form and the associated payment. I have been tracking his case status as we havent received the Form I-797 and I finally log in today and see the following:

On December 14, 2019, the Post Office returned a notice we sent you for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXX, because they could not deliver it. This could have a serious effect on your case. Please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice immediately. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

We have no idea what happened and why the form did not get delivered but I immediately went and filed the e-request and I got the following confirmation:

Thank you for your request

USCIS will review and process the request.

What I wanted to check is how USCIS will get the notice to us now that we have filed an e-request. Will they email the Notice to us? I am asking because I don't know if they have a wrong address for us but I also dont want to file an address change because we have the right address in the forms we submitted.

Thanks!

Call and ask what address they have on file.

Yes, definitely call , and it's a good idea to call the post office to inform them of this so if the problem is on their end, they can make sure it doesn't happen again. I recently had a problem with a package delivery (fortunately not immigration related). I received an email form USPS telling me my package was not delivered because my front door was not accessible, when there was no obstacle to my front door at all. I filed a complaint that evening, and my package was delivered, to my door, at 6:30 the next morning. This was followed up by a phone call from USPS to apologize. I would call both USPS and USCIS, just to cover all bases.

Have you moved recently? Did you file a proper COA with USPS?

While you are waiting for a reply from either alphabet agency, :time:
