It would have to be almost simultaneous, or at least prior to the House and the Senate approving a new Veep.  I imagine, given Nancy’s current play, she could hold up any confirmation of a new Veep as the 25th Amendment requires a simple majority in both houses.

 

i heard an interesting take on this whole impeachment transmittal delay today.  Since the constitution does not specify a deadline for the transfer to the Senate, Nancy could hold these articles until January 3, 2021 when a new Congress convenes hoping for a Dem majority in the Senate.  Of course that also relies on the Dems keeping the House.

Certainly in that aspect.  I was only commenting that the line of succession does not require confirmation when someone in that line takes over for whatever the reason.  This is what surprises me with the whole impeachment play, if it did play out and Trump was removed, we get Pence.  I for one would definitely vote Pence over any of the Dem candidates just for spite.  Heck, I voted for the Dem currently representing my district as she seemed reasonable.  No chance I would vote for her again, and will actively campaign for her opponent over her joke of a vote.

To remove Trump they'd need 67 votes. So they'd basically have to win about every single GOP seat in 2020 and retain all their own.

 

Beyond that, their best case scenario to even get a majority is taking all contested races and keeping Alabama. 

 

Trump is safe.

Yeah Pelosi is 3rd in line to the throne but no way Trump and Pence gets taken out in some way at the same time. If they do the least of our concerns is Pelosi becoming POTUS.
