Like it was for Clinton? I don't think that is ever a big consideration for them. Waste is one thing congress does well.

Totally agree Clintons impeachment was a huge waste of time. They weren't going to remove him from office so why do it? The constant "Whitewater" investigations assured that eventually they would eventually Impeach him for something was ridiculous. This one though was beyond the pale in that going through this impeachment was probably the stupidest thing to do. It assures Trumps reelection and probable Republican retake of the House and even possible the Senate being lost for a couple of generations. Clinton was a lame duck candidate anyway and forbidden from running again but Trump was possibly beatable.

Yes just like clinton, you would think they would have learned.

One small exception. Clinton with 100% irrefutable evidence was guilty of perjury. He was even disbarred

I agree with this but the Senate quickly determined that there are different views what constituted "high crimes and misdemeanors" and not worth removing a POTUS. A huge waste of time to go through the turmoil. Clinton became popular after it too and would have won a third term if he would have been allowed to run again.

Hillary... er, Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit... is considering running for a third term... er, time.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Like for Clinton? Incorrect.

Clinton perjured himself repeatedly, lying in testimony about 1) Having ever been alone with Lewinsky (at least three times lying about this), 2) Lied a litany of times about having a sexual relationship with Lewinsky.

Clinton also obstructed justice repeatedly, several times giving gifts to Monica (after being served with a subpoena on the issue), then repeatedly consulting with her on how to change her testimony.

The Senate's lack of conviction doesn't change what the truth is via evidence, and there's no question that this involves actual crimes. It was not a circumstance where people were starting off from Clinton's election with the ends of impeachment and then searching for the means to impeach him, as we have with Trump. Rather, the impeachment effort began well after evidence came from a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him. The proof found in the two articles resulted in legal and civil consequences for Clinton, him being disbarred in his home state, him going to be disbarred federally (but he chose to "resign" his practice in advance Nixon style), him being found civilly liable for a litany of acts against Lewinsky and Jones.

Versus Trump, where you had people talking about impeachment of him before he ever took office, where what they're impeaching him for now has absolutely nothing to do with the stuff they were talking about before he took office, and that stuff isn't included whatsoever.

Congress had an obligation to convict and remove Bill Clinton, but demonstrated that this is clearly a political matter, and not a legal one, despite the fact that legal terminology is used to describe high crimes and misdemeanors. It also demonstrated that certain people are above the law, and that Congress clearly has given far too much power to the executive, abdicating its own duty and delegating it to other branches. The real question then shifts to the populace, who holds Congress in such personal contempt, yet keeps re-electing corrupt people, refusing to take personal responsibility for their own choices and the consequences of those.

She won't try unless she knows she can win and the only way she wins is if the economy tanks. Trumps declared innocent of all charges by the Senate will make the economy humming through the elections at least meaning Trump will win easily so Hillary don't want to be handed another embarrassing loss.

I am starting to think Pelosi's gambit to get out of her predicament is to never send it to the senate

She has to and SCOTUS will rule 9-0 that tells her she has no choice. Pelosi has just become a niche player whos time has ended being useful. Senators are way bigger niches than Congressmen.

I suppose, although I would use Trump's quid quo pro as the example, since it's a relatively current event, and fits in well with the topic of Trump's impeachment.

But the Biden example is much more clear cut.  With Trump it is all about assumption and opinion.

exactly. I do see how asking them to look into Biden's very obvious and admitted corruption is a problem

I agree, Clinton definitely committed a crime, but impeachment was a waste of time since he wasn’t, in my opinion, a clear danger to the country.

That's the thing though, Trump IS a danger to the country!  Women can't go outside alone, the economy is in the garbage, unemployment is super high...

So Nancy just did something so rare (only two Speakers in recent history have done it now) and she refuses to answer questions about it?  Who is acting the monarch?
