Well, I tend to think polls are just a snapshot. But the numbers for and against impeachment have not significantly moved during the process, except for an increase in the number of independents who support (up 7% IIRC).

We can all cherry pick polls all day, true. But there are things to be said for trends that develop over time and stay stable.

Earth shattering observation

Remember when the Republicans never won again after the Clinton impeachment? Neither do I. Hooray for hyperbole.

Half of Americans don't even remember what quid pro quo means. Unless they drag this out until next year, it really shouldn't even be an issue on election day.

I think you meant to say the Clinton-Johnson club.  Not sure any of them were impeached for a good reason, but at least with the first two, there was an identified crime even though with Johnson, the broken law was unconstitutional.

Interesting play.  I don’t seem to remember the Senate having any say into how the House conducted their impeachment hearings.  I sounds like the Queen of Hearts wants it her way.

Pelosi suggests she may wait to send impeachment articles to Senate: 'We'll make a decision ... as we go along'

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Democrats may wait to send their articles of impeachment against President Trump to the GOP-controlled Senate, for fear that they are incapable of holding a fair trial.

Pelosi held a press conference on Wednesday following the House impeachment vote and was asked what would qualify as a "fair trial."

"We'll make a decision as a group, as we always have, as we go along," she replied.

Republicans will seek a writ of mandamus from SCOTUS which will force the Dems to send the articles to the Senate for trial.

Pelosi will probably try to delay til they get back from Christmas recess.

They would argue that its a political process, not a criminal one, but the demonstrated threat and disdain for yet another American freedom would be unequivocal.

I suppose, although I would use Trump's quid quo pro as the example, since it's a relatively current event, and fits in well with the topic of Trump's impeachment.

She can hold it off till after the holidays but the trial starts in January regardless. February will hurt their party even more. Pelosi knows she needs to get this over with fast or her party will be crushed even more. The Republicans will quickly end it all when they vote that Trump is acquitted of all charges and Trumps economy and Wall Street will rev up even more and Trump will be even more popular.

What was it when Warren/Pelosi wanted to withhold aid from Israel?  Asking for a friend.

Yeah I read that but her part of this process is basically over now. It is now the Senate that has to act and they will and say a big FU to the House acquit 100% Trump of all charges. The strange part is this was said would happen if they went through with it and they did it anyway. It will be shown to have all been huge waste of time all along.

Like it was for Clinton? I don't think that is ever a big consideration for them. Waste is one thing congress does well.
