The petitioner's name is not supposed to be on the visa, but the applicant's.

Fiancé's name is typically printed in the annotation (ie Fiancee of Mr John Doe)

Hi,

I just received my K1 visa stamp on my passport. But the Petitioner's middle name and last name are slightly misspelled. 😕

We really wanted to get married before Christmas. Can I proceed anyway or would this cause a problem upon my arrival to the US?

You need to have it corrected before you travel, contact the embassy.

Funny thing is I was comparing it to the CR-1.

Anyways, OP should have it corrected before leaving to avoid inconveniences down the line.

OP:And yes, this situation has happened before. And no, doubtful it will take much time, but who knows how long? Ask the embassy/consulate when you take it back for correction.

Incorrect.  Both names are on the K-1 visa.

You must have this corrected before you travel with that visa.

So I emailed the embassy. Usually they take a day or 2 to respond. Now I get an automated response saying that they will get back to me in 5 business days due to the sheer volume of emails.

Uuuuggh looks like we won't get married before Christmas like we intended 😩😒

No way to call?

Is the embassy close by?

There's no way to call the IV unit of the embassy; only the non IV unit accepts phone calls. And we're not allowed entrance to the embassy without a valid appointment.

It's ok. Everything happens for a reason. We'll wait.

So! A quick update. The embassy emailed me back saying this about the Petitioner misspelling:

"As long as your biodata is correct on the visa foil and matches your passport information no need to cancel the visa and reprint."

I'm printing a copy of this email and taking it with me every stage of the process in case I get questioned or get any sort of hassle 😂😂
