Applied for AOS

My fiance and I married a few weeks ago (spur of the moment 11 days after my divorce was final, fiance is here on visa waiver). My fiance was scheduled to go home this Sunday. We went to the local immigration office with all our paperwork. Man told us what we're doing is totally legal (in fact there's a blurb about it in one of the documents we filled out about how you can't AOS on a visa waiver UNLESS you are married) and assured me there would be no problem with my husband being in the US while all this is processed.

We had some friends help with the forms - they went through this a year ago, we doubled checked our forms, did research etc. Had the immigration office confirm fees and forms we needed. Hopefully all T's were crossed and all I's were dotted... but what if they weren't? What if there's a problem in the forms? Do we go through the whole process again?? Can we correct the bits that are problems?

If it's evidence or a document that is missing, USCIS will send you an RFE and give you time to submit the document.

If the form is filled up incorrectly or the fee is wrong amount, they will send the entire packet back and tell you to correct what is wrong and re-submit.

If something is wrong, they will let you know. Watch for your checks having been cashed, then you know the package arrived. Good luck with the process.

Yes, as noted, USCIS will send you details if there's something missing. There's a checklist or two posted around the forums -- do a search for "checklist" and you should find it -- and that's worthwhile to look over before shipping it off.
