Hello!  We have made it to scheduling the medical and interview at the US Embassy in Santiago, Chile.  My question is: One of the required documents to be completed and presented at Carlos' interview is the Affidavit of Support Form I-864.  This is not a problem because I  have completed and will be sending it to Carlos.  But...I also see for the instructions of the I-864 form that the completed form should be sent to the Chicago Lockbox.  My question is should I do that as well or only follow the instructions that were given to us by the US Embassy in Chile.  Please advise.

You're doing a K-1?  The lockbox instructions are referring to submitting the I-864 for his AOS, which you will do here in the States after marrying.

Is Santiago specifically requesting that form?  Generally for K-1s it is just the I-134.  In any case, he will hand carry any documents directly to the interview.

Hello,  I totally agree with you which is what is so odd.  Yes, US Embassy is requesting the I-864 which I found odd as well.  I had prepared the I-134 so now I am thinking that I send him with both.  I still do not understand if I need to send the I-864 here in the Lockbox.  I have  attached the letter from the US Consulate in Chile with the required documents which is item number 7 in the list.

I skimmed this, but I don’t really read Spanish.  Does it refer to the lockbox in any way?  I can’t imagine you would send it there for this part of the process.   The lockbox system is for distributing documents to US-based immigration service centers.  That comes later for AOS.

I’d just make sure he has both documents for the interview.

The lockbox info was on the instructions for the I-864 form.  I totally agree with you but also what is strange is that they are requesting that he complete the DS-260 online and not the DS-160 which was my understanding.  I feel that the US embassy in Chile has given us information for another scenario rather than the K1 fiance visa.  I have asked Carlos to reach out to the embassy for clarification, I hope!

Yes it sounds like you gave the interview instructions for the CR/IR1 visa. Have you emailed the consulate back with that question?

It would certainly seem that a request for clarification from the embassy is in order. Yes, they appear to be asking to the wrong from for the K1 visa, DS-260 vs. DS-160, and likely the same incorrect form I-864 vs. I-134, see below.

I don't know how much help this information is but this is what I have for Chile as far as the steps for the interview and document collection and submittal.

Unfortunately I don't have a true Packet 3 letter so if and when you get a copy can you PM me with it? Thanks.

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Chile&cty=Santiago This line is a little old from 2017 and should be used with caution.

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-cl/iv This is the Embassy's website with all the information for Chile. You'll need to do a little exploring to find your answers.

Also I have this https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/SNT-Santiago.pdf

You should be over in the sub-forum for your area where you can ask some of the others who are applying and also there are some experts that can answer your questions.

Hello everyone!  I contacted the US Embassy in Chile yesterday via email and as we thought, they had sent us the wrong packet.  This morning I received the correct packet for the K1 visa!  yay!...so we are now back on track with the DS-160 online and the affidavit of support, I-134.  Thanks!
