Please help! I need acertified true copy of naturalization certificate in order to renew my foreign passport so I can travel to visit my parents. I called USCIS and they told that someone from my local USCIS office would call me to schedule an appointment. Instead, I got email that they don't have appointments for non-emergency situations. What do I do? I absolutely need so I can apostile it. I was told it's not a good idea to apostile the original document but looks like I won't be able to get true copy. Any advice? thank you

Since you are a USC you should be travelling on an american passport in and out of the US.

Why don't you have or get an american passport?

If the OP has dual citizenship with the US and the country to which she is traveling, she needs to enter and exit each country on that country's passport. Example: I'm a dual US/UK citizen, so I would need to exit the US on my US passport then enter the UK on my UK passport.

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

I didn't write anything about that and I'm full aware of that and it was not what I was asking. But where I'm from you can still go on an the american passport and then get your home countrys passport updated when you are home.

But that's not true everywhere.  Many countries have an equivalent to the US law that requires citizens to enter and exit on that country's passport.

Also, the OP needs a US passport for international travel regardless of whether she must use her home country's passport to enter there.  She wouldn't be able to re-enter the US without a US passport, because as a USC she's ineligible for either a visa or ESTA.

Depends on the country, and sometimes even the way you enter (commercial carrier vs personal vehicle).

Other U.K. citizens here have claimed that the UK is actually one of the rare exceptions to the rule of using own country passport? I think though the vast majority of countries do require it.

As for the suggestions about flying home to renew, well even with an expired passport most countries will let you in as it is still proof of being a citizen, but it may be a problem flying home with it if cannot present US passport to travel (example the country is not visa free for USCs).  It is certainly an option, if the new one can be assured to be printed by the time OP’s visit is over.

Get your congressman or senator’s immigration aide involved. They have direct means of communication with USCIS and can get you that appointment.

Department of State will not apostille if the certified true copy is not from USCIS when it comes to naturalization certificate (personal experience).

Not all countries have that as a requirement.

I'm a dual US/CAN citizen---I can enter Canada using either my Canadian passport or my American one.

I certainly know US/UK's who enter the UK as a visitor using their US passport.

US does require USC's to enter the US using their US passport.

But then neither US or UK would be interested in any other nationality to renew your Passport.
