Yes, something to think about.

Does anyone know how long this process is taking now?  I heard it's taking about 2 years from some and others have told me it's less than that.

1.5-2 years  would be a safe guess, depending on whether the F2A visa stays current.

15 months if you file for them.

two years when citizen applies for step child? that's a lie. timeline clearly says  5-12 month. plus when it comes to unmarried step child under 18 there are unlimited visas coz they are immediate relatives not family preference. u don't even need to look for visa bulletin. unless GC holder will file i130 but why when us citizen can do faster and easier. sorry if i am wrong. but that's what my attorney said because i filed the same like 5 month ago.

5 months, not sure I have seen something happen that quick, well in a very long time. At the moment a reasonable guess is 15 months for both LPR and USC but certainly the LPR one is likely to extend.

5-12 month clearly says my post. and yes i130 got approved  12.13. so it will take in total 7 month. when it comes to immediate relative things go fast.

7 months is not normal, and anyway are you not doing AOS?

The I-130 alone for the immediate relative of a USC is typically taking aruind 8-12 months alone. Then there's NVC and consulate processing, which adds anywhere from ~3-5 months (or more). So ~11 months would be an optimistic low end (sooner is possible but not the norm), and ~15 months on the high side (longer is certainly possible too).

Things go fastER, no such thing as “fast”

visas are immediately available, but uscis and dos take a while to process things

“in my experience”, sorry, but do you do this regularly? No two cases are alike. That’s why people here look at official average times.

The only way I can make any sense of this is that your spouse filed, not you.

average i130 processing for immediate relatives this year has been 10.6 months, that’s more than double the 5 months you are throwing around https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/historic-pt

.And that is only uscis processing not the rest of the process, as geowrian pointed out above.

Problem? I’m not the one getting all huffy because someone pointed out the obvious, that one person’s experience with the system is hardly enough to definitively state a timeframe. As the official uscis link above shows.

by the way it’s spelt “you”.
