F1 to EB3 Visa Consular Processing - Interview in couple weeks

Hello guys,

I went to US in 2011 on a student visa, worked in a Tech Company there on OPT status for 3 years. I left US once my OPT ended since I didn't get picked in the H1B lottery. I am currently in my country Nepal.

My Company has filed for EB3 Immigrant Visa via consular processing and I have an interview at the consulate in a couple weeks.

I have a couple questions:

1. Do the interviewer have a concern since I am going from F1 to Immigrant Visa. F1 is a non-immigrant and IV is an immigrant intent visa.

2. What are the types of questions consulars ask for this visa category during the interview?

Should not be. That's what it's for. Your eligibility was established by the Labor Certification and an approved I-140. The CO should not be re-adjudicating the petition but rather trying to find if you have any

I have no idea, I have never been into one for EB, although I did get my green card through EB2. I adjusted status in the US without interview. I can't imagine it would be too hard. What is the company like? Is it a legitimate company? What is the size? Is there any reason for them to doubt your relationship with your company?

1. First of all you are not going from F1 to EB3. Your F1 status was gone the day you left US. Now its just the immigrant interview. It should not affect at all.

In fact your prior trip on F1 will show your good character that you returned ( though not selected in H1B lottery is the reason) back on non immigrant status.

2. As said expect questions about your education, your past job, new position and its duties/responsibilities, salary, wat qualified you for that position like that, some questions may be on the company, location n such which you should know for sure. I’d bring transcripts and past employment letters and other supporting docs.
