How do you go about asking for a job offer letter?

Hello everyone. 

I understand that this might not be the most adequate place to ask this but, we know that with a job offer letter you can ask to get your EAD expedited (alongside other reasons of substantial weight for your request) but, how does one go about asking for this to an employer? 

What do you say to them? How do you explain the situation? etc. 

I'm about to have an interview with a potential employer but the possibility of asking for this and being turned down is very real & scary as we are in a very bad situation financially and life wise.

Normally you would not ask for one in the interview. You would discuss the job and negotiate an offer afterwards (usually through HR unless it is a really small company).

 

That said, it would be wise IMHO to let them know about the (uncertain) timeline so they are not surprised when you are unable to accept any offer right away. Even an expedite will take at least a couple weeks if everything goes smoothly, and some employers may not be willing to hold on to an open position for that long.

A few weeks may be optimistic.

 

Probably the biggest variable is your specific skill set and how keen an Employer is to take you on board.

So if they asked you: 

“Are you able to legally work in the United States?” And you answer no, would you just end the topic there? What would you do to bring back the situation in your favor and get a job offer? 

 

This whole expedite/not being able to work at all thing has been nothing more than stressful, sorry.
