I've read several times that a K1 visa is valid for 6 months from the date of issue and yet my fiance's K1 visa clearly expires 30 Jan 2020 even though it was issued 10 Dec 2019.  Anybody know what is going on here?

From the date of the medical, usually. They cannot issue a visa pass the expiration of the medical. When was the medical done?

That's another oddity.  She completed her medical in Nov and it expires on the same day, 30 Jan 2020.  I thought Medicals were good for at least 6 months also.

Well, like I said, the Embassy can only issue visa that is valid up to the expiration of the medical. Why/how her medical expires earlier than normal, she has to take it up with the people who assigned that expiration at the medical place.

Did she do a sputum test? If so that is the reasoning behind the short date.

I can promise you it's a waste of time to even try to talk with anybody with any authority at SLEC.  My fiance wasted 8 weeks of her life (and mine) because SLEC suspected she had TB even though there was compelling evidence to the contrary.  They refused to even see the evidence.  If SLEC is involved anything is possible.

Up to 6 months. It is constrained by the medical. Also, certain medical results can further limit it...TB related items are the most common, usually with 3 month validity.

She did the sputum test.  All 8 weeks of it and it was completely unjustified.  A complete scam.

Say what you'll say but THEY HAVE THE GOLD SO THEY GET TO MAKE THE RULES. If you want a visa then you must adhere to their rules. Good luck.

TB can kill her and can kill others that if she is infected. I am grateful that you are inconvenience so that she is not contagious. SLEC has the best equipment and they have been doing this for years.

Funny thing is it's not power but you think what you want.

Thanks, and you split all the hairs you want.

My Mother had TB, serious stuff. Not something to mess around with.
