I-130, check cashed late, wrong receipt date and other fun

My case doesn't seem so unusual given what I've read, summary

4/28 mailed I-130 to CSC with delivery confirmation

4/30 delivery confirmed via USPS website

4/30 ---> 5/24 big long silence

5/24 my online bank account showed the cancelled check for $190, WAC# not accurately legible.

6/11 Got cancelled check via US mail, checked WAC# on website, state "On May 18th, 2007, we received this I-130" ...

...... No NOA1 yet.

Anybody got opinions on:

- A few folks have said there was no relationship between WAC# on check & real WAC# when the NOA1 arrived

- I guess some folks never got an NOA1 or very very late, good thing I'm not thinking of a K-3

- Should I start hassling them to process my case based on the correct delivery date?

- Other opinions?

Thanks

-J

Mine was exactly the same. I couldn't read the WAC # on the cancelled check so I had to call them and asked them for it. I also had to request a copy of the NOA1 because I never received it, it arrived a month before it was actually approved. We were approved 05/03 and we still haven't received the paper NOA2. Requesting a copy will cost $200, so I don't know what to do.

Also, they won't process your case faster even if you beg, hassle, and threaten. ^_^

-J,

It's not unusual that the case number written on the check does not match the case number shown on the Receipt Notice.

USPS delivery date and USCIS Receipt Date are two different things. They are normally only a day or two apart, but sometimes a submission may sit awhile in the USCIS mailroom or clerical sorting room before being opened and logged in as received. USCIS processing goes by the Receipt Date, not by the delivery date.

Update to my former post:

8/29 e-mail approval of I-130, letter arrived shortly after

Website showed receipt date of 5/18/07, but appears processing was based on "priority date" of 4/30 ...

I never did get an NOA1

Congratulations on getting an approval. Whatever the date was on it - I know there are still a lot of march filers - and earlier - who are still waiting

Our NOA is dated June 8 - I am hoping we hear something soon! *guess I am not holding my breath though! This can all drive a person crazy!! :wacko: *

=================

Adding my own final update to this posting. The NOA1 never arrived, CSC later notified that this effected a bunch of folks and was because of a systems error.

When the NOA2 finally came through (at about the right time based on original filing date), it contain a "priority date" which was basically the correct filing date give or take a few days.
