I wasn't shutting anything down. I want to be wrong, to have someone tell me not just that I'm wrong, but why I'm wrong. I am asking for dialogue. I have an interpretation that is plausible and it is offensive to me, and likely to others. I also know -- I'm not an idiot  -- that my interpretation could also be right and be hilarious to others. But it is not shutting anything down to say, I don't like this. That is precisely what I said. It is not toxic or authoritarian to say, this is offensive to me. It is disagreement, and I see disagreements as opportunities to understand each other better.

 

Please don't be rude to me. I'm not being rude. I'm asking for others to see another point of view, and asking for clarification. There's no need for you to call this toxic, or authoritarian. 

I know most smart people wouldn't be touching these posts with a ten foot pole (the intent is to shut things down, outrage almost never elicits conversation), but I've got a few minutes and am glutton for punishment, so here you go:

 

He was clearly making fun of both Warren and Rapinoe, making fun of Rapinoe's last name (hence why both names rhyme with hers), and Warren's affinity for appropriating native heritage for personal gain (hence them being tribe names). Some might call this invocation of outrage out of thin air sad, I think it's funny. If it were about mere inquisitiveness, one might ask what another person means, by itself, rather than talk about their outrage and spend time trying to qualify it with criteria (I'm a woman, therefore you can't find so-and-such funny), which really means nothing. "I want to be wrong" is the admission one is going into this irrationally. It's clear what the intent is with these actions.

Rapinhoe will entertain with her musical ability, you know.... rappin'.  (edit: I am assuming that's how her name is sounded.  TBH, I have never heard it pronounced.  If it's a long "A", then I can see where you took what I said wrong.)

 

As for keeping thing in order, that's where great grandpa's Slapinho comes in.  But only if she gets outta line and needs it.

 

Have no idea how you got rape out of that, sorry if it came across that way.  Joking about slapping a woman around is perhaps funnier to me than some, when you understand who I am married to, and comments that have been made to me about going abroad and "finding myself a submissive woman".  And I reserve my jokes for only my very closest friends, not the internet.  I promise.
