Yup, that's a no go, with that kind of quantities. You are not immigrating to the US.

Just so everyone knows 2 lbs of amphetamine is equivalent to about 800,000 tablets. Say the street value is $10 a pop. You're looking at $ 8 million worth of drugs. Not a chance my friend.

This is my wheelhouse, I'm a pharmaceutical professional.

So unlikely for personal consumption?

Amphetamines dont exist as pills, it is not meth. The value is way lower. In germany around 1000 dollar.

Wow, likely classed as smuggling/ dealing...

Gives the presumption of possession with intent to distribute/sell considering the amount you were caught with.  Curious if you were also charged with some sort of smuggling on top of that.

Of course you can consult with an immigration lawyer (one who has experience with drug backgrounds)...but the chances of immigrating to the US with that history is slim to none.

Your easiest options are either she moves to Germany, or you move to another 3rd country together (where you would be eligible to immigrate).

In case you're thinking of Canada (as many do for the 3rd country option), they wouldn't let you in either with that background even with marijuana legal there now since the offense happened before legalization, private dealing is still strictly regulated even with legalization, along of course with you in possession/dealing amphetamines and cocaine.

Hello,

I met my girlfriend travelling and we plan to marry. She is a guidance counsellor in new york and i live in germany. I just finnished my appreniceship as industrial mechanic and i would like to move to the usa to build up a future with my soon to be wife. The problem is that i have a criminal record with 2 offenses with drugs and i was sentenced to 2 years 8 months of jail. I am still on probation.

Is there any chance for me to get a work permit in the usa when i marry her? There is no reason for me to go to the usa any other than her because i have a great job here.

Thanks for the informations!

The issue isn't with getting a "work permit."  It is with getting a visa in the first place.  You have much research to do.

No, i drove it over the border and got money for it. Thats wgy i got 2 years 8 month jail sentence. Sigh, guess i wont leave germany

Unfortunate.  AFAIK you won't even be able to travel to the US on VWP/B visa.

Your GF moving or you both moving to a third country will be your only option at this point.
