I just checked online my son uscis status its showing the case was sent it to department of state for visa processing. Can some help me out what does it mean and what is my next move please.thank you

it was sent to NVC

you will wait for NVC welcome letter which will have instructions to proceed.

Basically

  1. NVC will give you a Case ID and INvoice ID
  2. Login to CEAC and pay the fees. While there make sure emails for contact are accurate
  3. After 3-4 days once the status changes to paid, you can start with the DS-260, I-864 and other forms
  4. Submit /fill those said forms
  5. Wait for them to be reviewed and wait for interview

For you it just means: now instead of an unknown on when your son can immigrate, it is now a known value based on your son's country.

For now start collecting all the required docs

  1. Passport copy
  2. Police Clearance Certificate
  3. I864
  4. Tax transcript or Tax returns
  5. W2
  6. birth certificate etc

My son case sent it to the Department of state before approval. Kind pf confused.i just send the additional evidence and today its said the case is send to the Department of state for visa prosesing.  So after that the uscis will approved the case or they already approve the case and send the letter to department of state

Is your son inside or outside the US? If he's outside the US then NVC is the normal next stage for consular processing. It goes USCIS approved petition -> go through NVC processing -> visa interview. If they sent it to Department of State, that means that the PETITION was approved, and that you are now moving on to NVC processing. Keep in mind there is no visa until after interview approval. Also: please don't start multiple threads on the same topic, you already posted about this in another thread

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)

  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

Varies. it depends on how quickly you submit said docs.

EG Time line

  • 1 week to pay and submit all docs.
  • + 4-6 weeks for doc review process
  • Find your country specific thread to get an idea of time to interview letter from Documentary qualified.
    • EG: India is taking 3-4 months to get the Interview letter from DQ due to high number of immigrants from India.
    • EG: Finland is taking only 1-2 weeks to get Interview letter after DQ as it is not a busy embassy.
  • Once you get the Interview letter, you have 3-4 weeks till interview
  • Before the interview your immigrant son
    • will have to collect the original and copy of below docs
      • Passport Biographic page copy and OG passport
      • Birth certificate that shows your name etc
      • vaccination records
    • Will have to go do his :
      • biometric
      • finish his medical exam as required from clinic of consulate's choice
      • take the required vaccination if no records or partial or missing during medical exam
