Sure if you speak within respect I know that's the case, but not like you go over and 'mock someone's beliefs' just how Jorgedig described it.

I did not mock anyone’s beliefs.  I pointed out that as Americans, we have the right to mock any god, (or politician, ideology, institution etc), all without regard to your feelings about it.  If you find the right of free speech and thought offensive, you may not be happy here in the US.

ooh, fine line there, I’d argue that mocking someone’s beliefs is more mocking the person than mocking God, of course neither are “nice”, and sometimes personal beliefs can make people more or less sensitive to a particular statement. Unfortunately the current leadership doesn’t set very good examples in being nice and not mocking people, so you already know not all Americans are respectful... but I’d like to think most of us are decent people.

 

As someone who used to live under a repressive government that shoved its version of religion down our throats as its justification for a cruel, violent regime,  I too am extremely proud of the first amendment, giving us both freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
