Hi everyone,

a month ago I received a courtesy letter asking us to bring a signed I-693 to an interview. But we didn’t get an interview notice yet.

Would it be safe to do my medical exams next week not knowing when our interview is? I’m not sure if the validity of I-693 is for 2 years or 60 days since we didn’t submit it with the original application.

Thank you!!

i-693 is valid for 60 days from the day the doctor signs off. if your interview is 60 day + after the doctor signs it than you have do it again as the resuts have to be sgined off by the doctor with 60 days of sign off .  Once USCIS or its office receives the results its valid for 2 years

That's not correct. 60 days is for mail-in filing with all the initial applications.

In your case it should be valid within a year.

@Donald120383, @risky_fox thank you for your answers. But I’m seeing contradicting information everywhere..

anyone has a clear answer on this please??

Here is what is official

  • The Form I-693 that the applicant submitted is signed by a civil surgeon no more than 60 days before the date the applicant filed an application for the underlying immigration benefit; [22]

  • USCIS issues a decision on the underlying immigration benefit application no more than 2 years after the date the civil surgeon signed Form I-693. [24]

If you click on a reference [22] and scroll just above the footnote - there is a handy table "Form I-693 Submitted to USCIS On or After November 1, 2018"

According to the table, if one got signed i-693 AFTER submitting i-485 - the i-693 is valid 2 yrs since civ. surg.'s signature date.

You got me worried for a second, I got a yellow sheet from USCIS (aforementioned courtesy letter) saying that they need i-693 for the interview, but my interview date still hasn't been scheduled. Nevertheless, I just got my I-693 from a civil surgeon. Some cheap/popular places run out of available dates real fast, I decided to do it ahead instead of waiting for the interview date. Also it is better to go earlier than later if there are medical issues - required treatments may take months. Even trivial titers and/or transfers of medical records may take up to 2-4 weeks.
