Yes, you have to realize the NVC by itself is a massive operation. NVC employs more than 700 people and processes anywhere from 500,000 to 750,000 petitions every years. So I think the most efficient way is to release the case back to the queue and whoever available first, picks it up.

The figures I quoted was from 2015, so I can only imagine it goes up by now.

And when you reframe it like that, I guess, I should be happy at where I am in the process. This is another good way to looks at it.

Hi,

I wanted to start a thread about things we may or may not have heard about the NVC. I think it would help clear up some questions for a few people. Let's start off with some true or false statements...

True/False: Some cases are approved in a week or less after submitting documents

True/False: NVC reps. must meet a quota each day regarding Case Completes

True/False: Clicking on the submit button or resubmitting documents pushes your case to the very beginning of the process

True/False: Once your case is review it is not reviewed by the same person each time after a resubmit

Speaking from experience here:

- True/False: Some cases are approved in a week or less after submitting documents

TRUE: I submitted all the documents on 11/8/2019 and received approvals and DQ on 11/14/2019. This was not expedited on my end.

😮  Yesss , I forgot about the expedite option... I did not include that into my thought process, and that goes to show that everyone's case is unique and every NVC employee is different.

People see one country or another get processed faster and so many factors comes to play especially at USCIS (natural disasters is one of them). Then you get to NVC and people forget there's expedite there's also Military personnel. So many things come into play.

But good questions and good dialog. Like you said you feel like something s wrong when others may seem to get through so much faster

you never know it could be true for quota and country of origins .

Maybe... I can't verify this but I saw a review from a past NVC employee that said something about them meeting their number for cases as a requirement. As if there was an expectation, but the person was not specific.

Thanks so much, you just mentioned more factors that I had not thought of and did not know that these were additional factors. Once again, I'm just happy to be at this stage.

I doubt there's a quota.

Lets be REALLY honest here, the government is a not for profit organization.  In other words, they make profit, but they don't care how long it takes to get the job done either in many cases.

For example: my husband works for the FAA.  He maintains and fixes land based equipment (electronics) that helps airplanes figure out where they are located either over the airport or flying over the countryside.  Some of this equipment is pretty old, think 60's and 70's.  When he has a piece from the 80's, that stuff is NEW!  ANYHOW, So he tests items and makes sure everything works to a specific standard that's been laid out for him.  He's supposed to get things done by certain timelines (yearly, monthly, daily etc...) but if he goes over, or does it faster, there's no difference other than the certification he gives the item saying it's in working condition.  Now if something has gone over, and that was out of his control (for instance he couldn't take an item offline to do maintenance because he needs prior approval to do so) It's possible he can get in trouble for that, but likely not provided he's documented his attempts to have the item done within the timeline.  If something breaks, he's expected to fix it ASAP but only if he can make sure it can be certified again to be in working condition and safe.

I assume much of the government runs the same way.  While the goal is to have XX done by XX date, if they go over, no big deal, just make sure it's done right. If they go faster, good job, but again, there's no reward either.

I guess I can agree that there might not be any insensitive for completing cases in a timely manner but I feel like (and I could be wrong) there wouldn’t be much space left for individuals that can’t keep up the pace. Although, it’s a non profit organization I feel that everyone is held to a certain standard.

False. I don't think so.

False.

It is not "always" reviewed by the same person. It could be.

I know 4 people who got their documents reviewed within a week.

one of them got DQ email in 24 hours.

this started after they shutdown their website for maintenance in October

It's extraordinarily hard to be fired from a government position.  I like to think that most work hard and try to do their best.  They do have a lot on their plate. Likely they are a little insensitive to the fact they are dealing with people's lives, merely becasue they do it every minute of their working lives.

This is true, what they do is not as signification to them as it is for us. I wounder what they would say if they knew people felt this way about the situation.

Don't doubt they know.   They just have to do their job.  To let their feelings get in the way would make them less impartial and harder to do their jobs.
