Hi,

I wanted to start a thread about things we may or may not have heard about the NVC. I think it would help clear up some questions for a few people. Let's start off with some true or false statements...

True/False: Some cases are approved in a week or less after submitting documents

True/False: NVC reps. must meet a quota each day regarding Case Completes

True/False: Clicking on the submit button or resubmitting documents pushes your case to the very beginning of the process

True/False: Once your case is review it is not reviewed by the same person each time after a resubmit

Lets be honest, Unless someone works at the NVC, we don't truly know what is happening.  We can make educated guesses and probably get rid of things that sound outlandish.  But once upon a time, the world was flat and we were the centre of the universe, and anything contradictory to those statements was considered outlandish and heresey.

Thanks and this is very true, but I get so much mixed information from everyone's experience with this process. :bonk:

Thanks for the feedback, I can't imagine that any of our VJ members would be dishonest, but I hear so many difference... it's like a cruel game of some sort 😞

I would say false to 1st 3 also

no idea about the 4th

but different responses from various members come from different embassies and situations/  none of us go thru exactly the same timeframe

none of us have exactly the same issues as yours (like ages of both,  religions of both,  children of both,  divorces and death of other spouses as yours) because no 2 people are alike

it is always best to review your particular embassy and read those reviews

but the basic process and steps are correct from here and USCIS site

I agree, every's situation is so unique... I think that is why there are so many different answers. I also think it's strange that some of the same information is requested twice through out the entire process.

Oh and I had someone from VJ tell me that their documents were approved three days after submitting for the month of October... How is that even possible?

I’m assuming the process is similar to where I work (Dept of VA) but not necessarily.

Adding additional documents mean they have to go back and review what you’ve submitted or resubmitted. So maybe not push it back to the beginning but does push it back some.

Quote

True/False: Once your case is review it is not reviewed by the same person each time after a resubmit

May not be reviewed by the same person. That person isn’t putting other cases on hold to wait for you to submit/resubmit documents. Our claims are put into a national work queue and worked in order of receipt.

It would be nice if they did this☝🏽so claims would be worked in order rather than by station. Husband’s ROC still waiting while others submitted later have been approved. And just the opposite with N400, moves faster than some others🤷🏽‍♀️

Yes, you have to realize the NVC by itself is a massive operation. NVC employs more than 700 people and processes anywhere from 500,000 to 750,000 petitions every years. So I think the most efficient way is to release the case back to the queue and whoever available first, picks it up.

The figures I quoted was from 2015, so I can only imagine it goes up by now.

"Some" is a very low bar. As such, I would say "True" as I have heard of at least 1 case that has been processed within a week. I would not say that is the norm.

Public information does not support that assertion.

It's not unreasonable to believe that NVC keeps a set of KPIs, nor that they would include those types of metrics in an evaluation of some types of employees. But that's not a quota anyway.

It would take somebody on the inside - likely management - to affirm the existence of any quotas to make this "True". I can't say it is definitively false either.

There is a logical argument that submitting new documents would not cut in front of somebody else. Although if not reviewed yet and it's an electronic submission, there is no harm either.

It would seem inefficient to enforce this due to turnover, vacation, etc. alone. Unlike somebody like an IO who evaluates a case and adjudicates the petition, NVC employees only do a basic review of key documents - in a vacuum with regards to their case as a whole - in an effort to streamline the process once it reaches the consulate. As such, there is not a strong reason to believe that a case at NVC is assigned to a specific individual.

1. I'm sure it was a Expedite people never realize that.
2. Every office has guidelines of what is expected of them so that wouldn't be so far fetch to get a certain amount done per day.

3. Resubmitting documents can put you anywhere in line. That's why it's always best to call and get a supervisor on the line especially when people have been submitting and resubmitting so much.

4. who knows we don't work there. I am sure like at USCIS you are assigned your cases. Makes sense. But there's always the supervisor who has access to them all.

Doesn't really matter in the end what is true what is not. There's a process to follow and that's what you must do. The inline system has made NVC slower than ever instead of faster. I was at NVC Dec. 2015 and was done in 4 weeks and that was mailing in 300 pages from Nigeria.

Wait you must.

👏 Your responses are always amazing. I like to keep an open mind and many of the answers help me feel that my process time is normal. When I hear something so out of the norm, makes me feel like I did something wrong, or maybe I should be doing something different. Thanks so much 😁
