I-751 - affidavits mandatory?

Hi all, we are going to apply for the removal of conditions and I didn't understand from the form if the affidavits by witnesses are mandatory, or if it is just one of the documents you can (but don't have to) use to proof that your marriage is bona fide. I was wondering if those of you who applied recently included it or not? Thanks!
