Oh god, don't scare me please.

He has to move out of his apartment by july 1st!!!

Gosh, i hope it won't take 5 weeks for that stupidity.

Did your SO go through Jerusalem?

Sorry  ... I should have specified "5 weeks from the date of *request*" before it was "officially received" by the Consulate. Also Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur (AND Columbus Day) fell during this time, so they were on vacation half the month. They didn't tell us in the packet to get an Israeli certificate -- just one from every place he'd lived for more than 6 months. So it never occurred to us to get an Israeli one, because Mahmoud never lived in Israel. We found out at the interview that he needed it -- grrrr. (Since then, they have changed the instructions to be more specific.)

Yes, he processed through Jerusalem. The staff there is very nice. Best of luck with TA !

It's already been 2 weeks since he requested his police report, so i am hoping for another 3 weeks. They told him in the police station that the standard time is 2-3 weeks but MAXIMUM is ONE month.

Why did your So had to get it from Israel as well if he never lived there?

Thanks for your replies.

I'm really sorry to hear this, Jen. The only version of the DS 156 that I can even find online is the version that expires 9/30/07. Is this the one you used? It even says previous versions are not acceptable. I wonder which version patiently_waiting's fiance brought. I would have done the exact same thing as you did...why on earth would one think it would be ok to bring an *expired* form???? :ranting:

I also saw that there was newer form online and had him fill that one out. However, he had both versions with him. The one they sent and the newer one. That was what saved him. He is overly cautious with that kind of stuff.

Sorry about another delay Jen. Don't give up. I know it's hard to hear that right now, but I am a true believer in everything happens for a reason. Your time will come. I know it will. We are still here for you.

Well.... it has to do with the West Bank being under occupation

I think you're good to go -- no consulate holidays on the horizon until the 4th of July. So they should be nose-to-the-grindstone at their desks ! I bet they'll have it in the system very soon.

I've been thinking about it some more and it's really odd that they didn't just give you a 221g, like WOM said, *especially* since they had already conducted the interview. I guess we'll have to wait and see it this is new procedure at Casa.

This happened in Algeria too when they were switching over to the new affidavit of support forms... i was hearing that consualtes were only accepting new versions of the form, but the CO in Algeria wanted to old form. Luckily i sent both cause they took the old form, but they just all work in their own little bubble over there, i dont think they really care what the rest of the world is doing... however, i am SHOCKED that he wasn't just given a 221g like everyone said and am sorry that you're going to have to wait longer.... :(

There is one thing you can count on with the consulate in Casa....inconsistency.

Sorry, but don't despair. Just play the game their way, you can't fight them. Give them what they want and soon he will be with you forever.
