I'm getting a little ahead of myself but I wanted to just have an idea how things will turn out when the time comes...

Say my wife's I-130 petition gets approved without a hitch, we smoothly sail through the NVC process, and completely ace the interview and medical exam --- once all that's done, from what I know and have read and watched online, she will get an approval notice given to her after the interview by the officer and then be mailed out her documents, passport, and a sealed folder to give to CBP at the border when she goes to cross into the US for the first time. After she is approved we also can pay for her immigrant fee online and order her green card (apparently taking up to 6 months for it to arrive), but in the mean time once she receives her passport back in the mail she will have a stamp in it that gives her the clearance to cross into the US as a permanent resident.

My question then is, if she and I were to cross to the US (we live in Ciudad Juarez) the second she gets her stamped passport as a day trip to research apartments and take her out the eat would she be able to go back to Mexico at the end of the day and then cross back into US again the next? I guess what I'm saying is, does that stamped passport allow her to be seen as a permanent resident to cross lawfully a number of times until she gets her official green card in the mail?

Just to clarify: when she gets her passport back in the mail, it will NOT yet have a stamp in it. It will have her visa in it, which is valid 6 months from the medical date. Once she crosses the US border, then the visa in her passport will be endorsed with an I-551 stamp by the CBP officer which is good for 1 year which will act as a "green card" until her actual green card comes in. To answer your question, yes her I-551 stamp will act as her proof of permanent residency, and yes she can use it to travel between the US and Mexico freely as once the visa is endorsed and activated she is immediately allowed to travel in and out of the US as a permanent resident

You will not "order her green card" when you pay the new immigrant fee.  USCIS will order the green card when both the new immigrant fee has been paid AND she enters the US.  Both triggers are required, fee and entry.

You just tried to correct him for not using the right terminology. You didn’t answer his question though.

He already has the answer to his question.  Now he has more information he needs but didn't ask about.
