Hello

I dont know what to do or I just going to vent :D

A lot of you know I got toss into the unemployment stauts and I been looking for a job. I applied in my area of aircraft maintenance.

I found a new job at the local tv cable company as a service Tech. I got all my paper work and I went to have a physical and drug test. No problem with the drug test but problem with the physical cause of my diabetes. I did not know they tested and they said sugar was spilling into the urine. they poke my finger and took my blood sugar. it was a little hight like 250. The Nurse practiner fail me cause she said it is out of control. To me yes it is high but that is a snap shot of that time. of course it wont stay their but I checked it myself over the last 2 hrs and it drop to under 200. I did not do anything no medicne.

I called the cable company and they told me too see if my family doctor can call them and explain to them I am under doctors care and he is doing fine etc. I called up my doctor and the lady said she will talk to the doctor. I will call tomarrow to see what happens. I may ask the cable company that I may work for if they can email me a new form and maybe I can have my doctor fill it out and re submit it.

The nurse practicinal is just worried about if I pass out she will get in trouble she told me that.. so she just only gives a ####### about herself.

Do you have diabetes? Get your doctor involved.

yeah I had a problem before long time ago but it got fixed with my dr's help. I will get my dr involved or I just stated it. I contacted the dr. I also contact HR of the company I will work for, she gave me some suggestions and she is working with me.. I just hope they can maybe waive it.

Maybe I sign a wavier if I pass out or something related to it on the job I wont seek legal action agaist them.

My blood sugar dropped over 60 points since the time she took it and the times I checked it.

so it will be flexing

I wont let it go, I need the job, has good benifets and not best pay but it is ok..

What are you doing to control your diabetes? Having that kind of rapid rise and fall in your sugar levels on a regular basis is NOT GOOD FOR YOU and I'm sure you know it. If you really want to know how good your control is you should have the 3 month test thingy done... if you're treating your diabetes properly you should be having them regularly.

edit: yogi ... (i spelled your name wrong!!!!!)

first of all ... what time was your FBS taken? i'm actually going to assume that it wasn't an FBS unless you didn't have breakfast and had your physical appt first thing in the morning.

second ... are you insulin dependent and regularly checking your sugar?

third ... i would look into the ADA (americans with disabilities act) - employers are not allowed to discriminate against people with a disability. it happens all the time and you need to be aware and educate yourself about it. it usually stems from misinformation and lack of education regarding some disabilities and/or diseases.

check it out: ADA in the Workplace (Diabetes)

best of luck to you!

OK

I was debating if I should e-mail you or just send here. I went about 2 pm to the physical I admit it is not in best control and I am playing with fire but I am trying to turn it around and be stright arrow about it. I had my breakfest with toast and juice and stuff. I take humalog which only acts quickly and become less active after about 3 or 4 hours. since I took my medicne around 8 am and the test at 3 or so in the afternoon and I had something before I went. so of course it will be a little high..

part two Yes insulin dependent and not always checking sugar. Since I been home I been checking it every 2 hrs or so. It has been about 7 hrs since I was at that doctor office at the doctors office it was like 253 and now I took it about 10 mins ago and it is 155. To me that is ok. everyone has a differnt target range. I am about 180 is my highest.

I have never been in the hosptial because of my diabetes. I have never missed a day of School or work cause of it.

Thanks for the ADA insite. I have a strong case.

The employer did not say ok now we withdrawl the offer. they did not. She told me to talk with my family doctor and have them call them up and see about getting it oked.. She is trying to work with me. As far as I know the offer stills stand. I will try to call them in the morning and then I will call again to the doctor and even see if they will fill out the form to relese me. I dont in my opinon feel I am putting myself or anyone else in harms way. I worked Night shift I always brought my medicne with me. I know when I feel low and I catch it in it early stage so I can correct it. I never passed out or had problems at the DMV.

I will be driving a company car. It is either a truck or van. So what nothing more then I drive now and I never had a situation.

it is this NURSE Practice Person performing it. She is not a medical doctor. I told her I never had a problem with it and never been in hosptial cause of it. she just said, not yet but you will. There is always a frist for everything.. that type of excuses.

I will update all when i have more to update.

Stay tune to the saga :lol::lol:

I had my breakfest with toast and juice and stuff.

The toast and juice isn't helping with your diabetes. Juice is almost pure sugar.

yes you are allowed to have juice. I mean you can even have a candy bar or a peice of cake. You just have to do your exchange

sometimes I have juice it is just like a 1/2 cup and that counts for like one fruit exchange :)

It is a pain to have this problem and I dont wish it on anyone...
