Each state has two U.S. Senators.

Congressmen handle smaller geographical regions within each state.

Sometimes, you can get quicker action working through your Congressman's office.

Ok but Just to share this with others my experience with representatives has been a little different. My senators have always been quicker than my representative.  For instance, i still haven't heard from my representative for the last inquiry i made ( he wanted me to wait 30 days) but my senator was able to get me a response within 3 days .  3 days was faster than the  7 days i was accustomed to , even i was taken aback by how fast it was. I am actually thinking about contacting my representative after the 30 days just to get a kick out of it.

It's not set in stone as the officers are allowed to use their discretion in each case! If you have a compassionate/humane officer handling your case, he or she might decide to give you an opportunity to prove your case by way of RFE..others may feel differently..we're all constantly praying for God's grace and favour in this petition! The race is neither for the swift nor the battle for the strong, but for God that shows us mercy!🙏🙌

Thank you very much! Earlier people was afraid of getting this RFE but now it would be better than immediate denial🙈

Hello Texas girl, I think all interviews take place in the USCIS office closest to you unless there has been a policy change, which I doubt.

I have a quick question for you though: How long was it from when you had update of new c31 card being produced, to official notice of vawa approval and then finally to case transfer?

I am also in Texas and i had my update of c31 being produced back in late November. I am trying to figure out approximate time frame of what to expect next. Thanks in advance

Hi Kersac,

I received vawa approval 5 weeks after c31 card production notice.

Since my spouse is a PR, i filed i-485 after vawa approval.
I-485 receipt  - Nov 2019

Biometrics.    - Dec 2019

Case transferred - Jan 7 2020

Good luck with your Aos. Feel free to ask if you have any other q’s.

Guys i just applied for VAWA, My package was delivered to USCIS on 26th of last month. Since then i have not heard anything.

My i485 interview is scheduled for this month. I will for sure ask them to hold that if they can.

My i-765 and i-131 are pending since july of 2019.

Does anyone know on average how long does USCIS takes to send receipt number?

I'm new in this forum but wish to  have read it thoroughly before filling I-360! in the last week of August, 2019.I'm a male filler and went through emotional, physical and sexual abuse--yes thats true-- at the hand of ex- wife. When I filled I-360, i had only proof that I visited psycihatrist  during the course of marriage and diagnosed with severe form of depression , who put me on medication and on his recommendation I started psychological therapy. i submitted only the receipts at that time along with Request for restraining order,  grounds of divorce and some pictures, etc and got prime facie without any initial rfe.

But now I ve a lot more to prove my case but i m wondering whether or not the USCIS ll issue RFE in my case ? My attorney says that i ve to wait for the rfe  to submit psychological evaluation report and confirmed restraining order? I need help as I heard uscis guys are hesitant to issue rfe nowadays! I need guidance please.

I dont think you should send something unless you are invited to provide. Let them request. You are not supposed to send something that they do not ask. That is why I'm waiting right time to submit my i 360 form. I dont want to feel bad after I submit. Because I do not want to miss anything.

Hello everyone,

I’m preparing my REF which was prove of my GMC for my home country. But now Im confused as I read that people who receive REF of GMC send FBI records, is it mandatory?
Is it necessary to request the fbi finger print?  Or maybe USCIS ask them to do so?
I don’t have any criminal history and I sent my state clearance(I have lived only in one state) and I’m going to send the one from my home country.

I hope somebody knows the answer.

@sandranj

thanks a lot 🙏🏼

Hi VJ Fam! Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I just want to share with you all my travel experience , especially to those who are planning to travel with their EAD/AP. This I just got back on Jan. 4 from my 3-week vacation from my country (Btw,this is my 2nd trip with my EAD/AP). It was a smooth entry at JFK-NY. I went in line with th immigration, no questions ask, just brought to another room to be checked by CBP. I just hand my passport and EAD/AP card. Same thing, no questions. After I’m clear, They just hand me a orange card to be given to an officer on my out, and that’s it.

I’m not sure what the orange card was for but there were different colors, like green and blue and white. I’m thinking maybe it’s to keep track of people holding advanced parole in different categories? 🤔

Glad to hear there was no issue at the port of entry. Welcome back

@Firat(Tur) the sole reason for my expeditious filling was the fact that VAWA law was going to lapse. I don't know about your case but you know VAWA law was lapsed in Feb,2019 due to congress/senate inaction.

hi hritik,

if you read more more entries in those old pages where new applicants filed wawa which they got even rfe. I'm aware of the fact that wawa got stuck in senate, but what I have seen the fact that ucsis is accepting cases. because

The VAWA provisions, which apply equally to women and men, are permanent and do not require congressional reauthorization. Moreover House passed the pill which could be legitimate.

If you lawyer submit a new I-485 with Vawa why sent a letter to reopen your denied I-485 he could just sent your I-360 receipt and letter telling them not to issue an NTA 😕

USCIS cannot process two I-485 one must be withdrawn... if you sent your EAD renewal has to be sent to Vermont as well, with the copy of your Previous pending I-485 receipt, and they will see you have a new pending C09 EAD as well, so is up to them to denied either the renewal you sent now or the new EAD you sent with the new I-485.

The lawyer had to request to reopen it because my work permit is automatically cancelled once it's denied, and it expires June 2020 and I wont be able to work until the new c9 card under VAWA is delivered, which that could take sometime now, and honestly it wont be easy for me if am out of work for some months, how would I pay my rent, so right now I don't really know what to do, should I renew my old work permit and hope they wont cancel the old I-485 once they know I have a new one, and if they cancel it, I would be out of job for only God knows, until they issue the new c9 card, or should I just not renew the old one and continue to use it to work until they deliver the new c9 card, that is if  they don't later on figure out that I have 2 I-485 now and cancel one, probably the new I-485 and I have to renew the old one so late and probably be out of job for sometime, I just don't know what to do now, am confused, what do you think I should do now, what's the best option for me for now please.
