hello, I have bank accounts with my ex spouse that we opened by the time we got married. I applied for vawa and used those accounts as proof. now i'm divorced and would like to close those bank accounts to stop paying unnecessary fees. since I already submitted statements from those accounts to USCIS, is it safe to close them now? or should I keep them for a little longer? I still have like a year of waiting for decision on i360. thanks

You can close your bank account.

@Stillwinning!!!😊

Do you know anything about what to do if you get a denial notice for your I-485 application? Per the denial notice, the reason given is that I failed to attend an interview scheduled back in Nov 2019. But, I never received or was informed about any interview appt notice. Per the USCIS website, my I-485 application is still pending. No mention of an interview notice at all. As per the case status update, the latest information they have is that my fees were waived.

The question is what is the probability that this denial notice was issued by mistake?

My current options appear to be: 1) contact Ombudsman, 2) appeal the decision with the USCIS Appeals Admin Office and 3) re-file the I-485 application?

I would appreciate anyone who can give me advice regarding any fixes and how  I can get through this hurdle?

To prove that you didn't receive the letter to attend the interview is almost impossible, because it will be just your word.

USCIS website is not reliable. Refiling is must safer than  to file an appeal. If you changed your address, it's possible that USCIS never updated the address in their system, then I recommend you to go to  info pass to confirm if they updated your address or not.If they didn't update the address then you can file a motion, but if the address is correct then refile a new AOS.

Hi.I have a question

I got my PF and Last month my fingerprint in Jan 10.I did not receive my EAD and SSN yet. I’m in NYC. I’m going to get drivers  license without SSN. If anybody knows will it be regular driver license? Or has it any different sign?

i have not seen the new DL. But i believe this is going to be the new DL (Green light bill).

You should be fine. SSN is important for work..but you can secure your licence with the validity of the EAD! It's normal DL just that it will be valid for as long as the EAD is valid. At least that's how mine is..I'm in N.Y. too.👍

Hello dear family, congrats to everyone with recent approvals and still praying for everyone with delayed cases.

So I got a call this morning from the safe house I used to live in after when things went sour with my spouse in Maryland that I received a mail yesterday from USCIS to attend my green card interview the first week of March.

Now I don't know what to do. When I moved to North Carolina I surely did change my address with USCIS and have received all my 3 EAD cards at my address in North Carolina.

I know my medical has expired so I surely need to get one done asap because my case has been pending over 3 years now.

Unfortunately I didn't receive any approval for the I-360 neither a courtesy letter as a reminder for medical under my I-485.

Within this long wait I contacted my Congresswoman, Senator and USCIS ombudsman but they all gave me the same generic response that my case was undergoing security checks.

Currently I'm a few weeks finishing up with school all the way in Texas. So I guess I have to request a break from school, go gather my documents requested in North Carolina and head to Maryland to attend this interview.

I would appreciate it so much if anyone with such experience can guide me thru this experience.

Blessed 🙏 Sunday and God Bless everyone.

You MUST  attend the interview but probably the officer won't be able to  interview there.I saw cases like yours before. USCIS  cannot interview  people living in a different State where the person is a resident, except if the attorney  is located where the interview will take place.

Not sure what's going on now..but last time I checked, EAD was needed. But I've heard that everyone can get DL now in N.Y....not sure the requirements for that..you could give it a go..💁

NY state passed a law last year for the people who do not have SS and EAD they can get the DL. This law was implemented in December 14 last year. Its called "Green Light"

I'm aware but have been sceptical as I don't personally know anyone who has actually gotten it done. Well sounds great all the same..open doors for folks without documentation!👍

Good day everyone,

I have filed for VAWA December 2019, I requested my attorney (catholic legal services to also apply for work permit and travel permit)

I received January 21st the Prima Facie valid till January 2021

Today Feb 26th was my fingerprint appointment on the document said case I-485 and I-765 - I am assuming this means work and travel permits.

My question was after the biometrics (fingerprints) are taken what is it that I should expect next? My attorney left the office and I am being passed around currently to a new one and its been a bit hectic. I am not getting my answers.

Am I going to get work permit ? as on the official website it stated something along the line (while on VAWA the work permit is not given until VAWA is approved) so I am confused will I get it or will I not and what is the time I should estimate for this?

I had previous work and travel permit that expired in November 2019 under the marriage application that obviously fallen apart and my previous green card was denied due to marriage fall out.

Appreciate any guidance I may get.

I was shocked when my driver’s license came in the mail last week and is valid for the full 4 years no restrictions. I was like, ok then... 🙌🏾 Go me lol

So if the attorney live there the officer will conduct the interview right.?
