He filed a new i485, I thinking in November 2019 but I’ll ask him for sure.

again as always, thank you for your response. And can I file i485 along with vawa ?

If you're married to a USC yes. But I learned that even LPR spouses can also file now as visa numbers are available. Ok so don't do anything until you confirm from your attorney if he filed a fresh i485 or not. You don't want to make the pending i485 three now.👍

hello, I have bank accounts with my ex spouse that we opened by the time we got married. I applied for vawa and used those accounts as proof. now i'm divorced and would like to close those bank accounts to stop paying unnecessary fees. since I already submitted statements from those accounts to USCIS, is it safe to close them now? or should I keep them for a little longer? I still have like a year of waiting for decision on i360. thanks

I hope with you that it was given by mistake🙏..but I think not. The status we see online doesn't always give real time situations of our cases. Most people that have been in your situation re-file. So is it true you didn't attend interview to even ask them to hold it? Pending VAWA approval? If yes then it truly is denied. The officer likely interpreted it as abandoned..so their next line of action is to deny it. It's faster to go with the 3rd option as the other two could waste time..really waste it!😏

No. I just got an email alert/notification that my I-485 application has been reopened and that I will be scheduled for testing/interview over the coming weeks. I spent all day complaining to USCIS - and, although they never made a mistake over the phone, I dont think that it's a coincidence that I got this status update via e-mail 4 hours later. Moral of the story: Persevere! Don't give up! Complaining works at times! :)

I think it was a technical error or a glitch on their part. On my end, the I-485 application was still pending and currently active. So, don't go into panic mode immediately!

take a screenshot of USCIS website where it shows no status change. Also, file MOTR and explain you have never received an interview notice. They should open your I485 again

Thanks dear. Very practical advice. For future reference: what is MOTR? Motion to reopen the case?

For the people who moved before filing, how did you get background check from your previous state? Did you have to go back to your former state or were you able to do it online, and how if you were?

You can get one from FBI, it's for all states

Thank you. I have called and done online requests, but I think it’s time to contact congressman.🙏

Yeah I had no updates on my rfe for 4 months, so I filed congressman and ombudsman inquiries, and about 2 weeks later I got approved. Not sure which one of the 2 was more helpful, buy my guess is ombudsman.
