Hello guys, I am new to this wonderful  forum. I submitted my vawa in December  2019 and got a prima facie approval. I ve gone for fingerprints on 27th January. How long does it take for EAD to be sent? Secondly, can I use the approval for driver licence  renewal?

Mine took 5 months after filing to get the EAD/AP combo card. Prima facie is only for public benefits like medicaid, foodstamps etc. For DMV in my case they required my EAD/AP combo card and SSN to get a driver's license.

Sure as long as you've applied for it, you'll get it in probably 5-7 months from when you petitioned! You might even receive it before the estimated time or later...it would come as a combo card. EAD and AP in one card.👍

Thank you again, I do hope I receive it soon, so that I may be able to travel.

What’s an AP?

They will not inform you about your I-765 anymore. Ask your congress person to inquire on your behalf.

@Modu

I went to congressmen's office today. A female worker there was very helpful. When i explained her everything. She called NBC, she got the news from them that my application is given to an officer to make the decision. I should hear from them within 15 to 30 days.

I was surprised that over the phone i was given wrong information that my applications are at Vermont and i need to write a letter to them.

Usually it will take the time the USCIS  is  showing on the website.

Thank you, @sandranj,

Does it mean wait time start ticking once my I-485 is transferred to local office and there is no shortcut? It just will make the case last for years.

With current uncertainty around VAWA - what will happen if VAWA requirements are changed or it will just no longer be there as immigration benefit. Will it impact I-360 cases that are in the process or that are approved? It is all hypothetical but good to know expert's opinion.

@balo101 our case is very similar. My EAD is pending (well they've given me 180 days extension letter twice now). Please follow Sandra's advice cos USCIS said the same to me when I called. My congresswoman responded tonight with my enquiry that she has contacted USCIS and will get back to me as soon as they respond.

You said you "believe your I485 is pending". There's no "believe" there. You need to be sure it's still open. Check online to ascertain.

you are right about it that i need to be sure.

The reason i was not sure that when i went for an interview last month the officer said to me she will deny  my case. then i showed her my vawa proof. requested her to hold my i-485. I had feeling she would deny that. Later on that day i received the notification that my i-130 is denied. i did not get any notification regarding i-485. Online status did not change either. I did not trust that officer.

I understand you better now. The officer said the same to me. But my I485 is still showing as pending and I130 is still open - though she sent a denial letter but online both are still open. From my experience most IOs are not conversant with Vawa. Be rest assured it's still open

I believe from transfer! I485 is usually on hold until i360 approval. Then comes the transfer..awaiting a slot for interview. That's when the clock starts ticking.👍

I am in a similar situation - do we really need to wait 2 more years? omg.
