Hey! I filed VAWA May 2018, C31 EAD was approved November 27th, 2019 and I got it in hand Dec 4th, 2019. I have been waiting for official VAWA approval notice for the last 10 weeks only to receive a letter from Vermont yesterday saying that i had contacted them about mistake on my name and that they are working on it and that when I eventually receive the new C31, i should mail the old one back to them along with this mail that I just received. The problem is that I never contacted vermont on any issue with my C31, and all the information on my C31 and even the recently approved C09 are correct. I can't understand what's going on. Furthermore, i did not use a law but the letter was address as if it was being address to a law firm. The letter does not bear my name, in the place of my address, it says firm address, and then below my address, it has my VAWA number. That single vawa number is the only information in the whole letter that refers to me. i am little confused. I am beginning to have a feeling that they have probably had my file mixed up with another person's. i am about to contact my congressman right now.

Clearly a mix-up. Very quickly contact your congressman to rectify the mess they are about to create! You should write them too..best they have something to remind them it's a mix-up and stop them in their tracks!👍

Uscis is not obligated to issue RFE anymore, it’s discretionary now .Tell your attorney that she/he should read more often about  the U.S Immigration  Laws.

Thank you @sandranj. My attorney submitted the response to initial RFE (related to prima facie) and my I-360 status has changed to be "back in process". I have never received a prima facie. Will CIS send it to me now? Can I expect to receive another RFE?

There was a conversation about I-485 timeline. Is it true that one may not wait the whole "median" time after I-360 adjudication and it can move quicker at a local office? Waiting time at my local office is like 2 years now. My I-360 hopefully will be decided this year.

Guys i had my interview last month (pending i-130). I went there by myself. I requested to hold the i-485. Then after few hours i received the notification that my i-130 is denied which is understandable. However, i did not get notification for i-485. I believe it is still on hold. For i-130 i the notification it says they send me a denial letter. I have moved from that location where my spouse lives. How would i know the reason for denial? Will i get anything from the USCIS? what should i do?

Hello everybody!!

congrats to everyone getting along with approvals, prima facie etc in their journeys... to those waiting, like me, good on us to keep our heads up!

I just heard back from my congressman about some inquiries with my case... well VSC said that my I-485 & work permit is under NBC  jurisdiction... that sounds confusing... I thought as soon as they get I-360, I-485 automatically comes under VSC. any thoughts?

so there is no way for me to find out the denial reason. Plus how would i know if my i-485 still valid or pending?

Denial letter has the reason I think...most times.

to see if any form/case is pending or to check status, best thing is to contact congressperson’s office. Google it, you can call the office and they will tell you what they need to help you.

What do you mean when you say "...denied which is understandable??" did you already knew you were going to get the i-130 denied? Please let us all know the reason for denial when you get the letter. Thank you and dont worry all will be ok.
