Not sure about your last question..but you asked what will help reduce processing times? Well..if they could clear out backlogged petitions- it will be a good start! Loads of petitions are submitted on a daily..not enough officers to handle the work load..complex cases..wrongly filed petitions..etc.💁I never imagined that one day I'll be advocating for patience..I used to see it as a waste of valuable time, but I've grown to recognize the difference between wasting time and been patient!😊 that's basically what we need in this journey. PATIENCE!

that is basically the best strategy @Stillwinning!!!😊 thank you!! :)

Hello everyone, I just want to share my story and encourage you all not to lose hope. I filed for vawa by myself in 2017, my vawa was approved in less than 5 months. Interview was early 2018, got my green card in 2019. It was a long journey but I feel fulfilled and glad that I did not give up. Below is my timeline:

Jan 24th - I-360 received at VSC
Feb 14th - received receipt notice for i360
Feb 21- prima facie issued
March 02 - received prima facie for i360 in mail
March 20 - i485 transferred to new office, Vermont
March 31- sent out additional correspondence/evidence for i360 with blue sheet attached to prima facie
April 3rd - additional correspondence delivered
April 5th - additional correspondence received and under review by VAWA unit
April 12th - EAD and AP applications transferred to Vermont
May 23rd - EAD approved and card is being produced
May 24th 2017 - VAWA approved
May 26th - EAD/AP card received
June 6th - vawa notice date
June 15th- transfer to NBC
Jan 19th 2018 - interview scheduled for feb 28th
Feb 28th 2018 - interview
Aug 2019 - RFE & Response
Sept 24th 2019 - approved and green card production ordered
Sept 29th 2019 - greencard received

feel free to inbox me if you need any help

That Rfe that delayed your green card and why such a long silence for more than a year and how you are able to crack and solve the problem will be a great help.

You're welcome dear. You were also asking how long the C9 EAD took..it really depends. For some of us who submitted to NBC in my case my attorney did.. It took forever- 9months plus. But when I finally got it, they compensated me with a full year's validity. Dec 2019 through Dec 2020! Be sure to submit your applications to Vermont and in a timely manner! Not to scare you with the above but others get theirs anywhere from 5-7 months. 👍

Hello everybody.

Today they passed the public charge law (DHS Obtains Another Judicial Victory on Implementing Public Charge Inadmissibility Rule).

Although I have been reading on the subject on the official USCIS website, it is not clear to me if this new law of inadmissibility due to public charge affects the petitioners of the green card through Vawa (I-360), I mean, I want to know if Vawa's petitioners are exempt from being considered public charge when applying for the green card (I-485).

I appreciate your opinion, including Sandra's opinion.

Thank you so much for your help!

You got it. VAWA petitioners are not considered public charge! Relax.👍

It's quite impressive that your VAWA was approved in 5months. But pray tell...what happened with the interview? Why did it take so long and what was the RFE for?😳 we are itching to know..at least I am💁 overall congrats you emerged victorious regardless!😊👍

congratulations! thank you for sharing! could you share what the RFE after your interview was about? why did the green card take so long after the interview - 1.5 years?!!

thank you. the officer that interviewed me got transferred to a different location and they had to pass my file to another officer. That takes time. Also Baltimore office has a very long wait time. And there were times they sent RFE to a wrong mail box and it took me time to have it resent to me. All those delayed the process. The RFE was to submit exemption from affidavit of support

Thanks. the officer that interviewed me got transferred to a different location and they had to pass my file to another officer. My local office in Baltimore has a very long wait time. And there were times they sent RFE to a wrong mail box and it took me time to have it resent to me. All those delayed the process. The RFE was to submit exemption from affidavit of support. My congressman also helped me to check in on my case and move it

Yes the RFE Delayed it, also the officer in charge of my case got transferred. I used my congressman and infopass to constantly check in on my case.

I don't know why you have not sent your I-485 (Adjustment of status) to Vermont along with your working and travel permit ??? LPR ABUSER SPOUSE VISA ARE CURRENT NOW.... AND IS BEEN CURRENT FOR MORE THAN 5 MONTHS Meaning you can sent your adjustment of status  NO NEED TO WAIT FOR I-360 TO BE APPROVE  Please take advantage of this so you be able to work.... Once your I-360 is approve your Adjustment of status is already there and will be transfer right away after I-360 approval...

In the uscis webpage in my case the i485 says below that "We will assign your case to an officer.   We will review your case and mail you our decision. If we need more information, we will notify you. " So if I got my courtesy letter and the letter said they did an initial review. Does this means my case has already been assign with an officer? I called once and they said my case was on the nbc but then another person said its on vermont but my case was transferred since November 😳 it's all confusing.

how long it took for them to work on your I485 after your vawa approval?
