AOS Interview Letter Received - Questions regarding next steps

Greetings VJ Users!

After a 14-month wait, we've received our interview letter for AOS from K1 visa

I've been reading up on next steps in preparation for the interview next month, and had a few questions that I hoped you may be able to help with:

  • The interview letter mentions bringing the I-693 medical form, unless submitted already. Since these were handed over at POE when I entered on my K1, would I need to do anything here? I have a copy of my vaccination record from my medical appointment with Knightsbridge Doctors in London. Would a copy of this suffice?

  • I received a police caution in 2006, and have previously submitted a police certificate and SAR for my AOS application. I understand I would need to request a new police certificate and SAR, as I have visited the UK since entering the US (using my AP back in April 2019 for 7 days). I do have an existing police certificate and SAR but these are 18 months old, so I’m assuming these are useless in this instance?

  • Proof of living together - we have faced some challenges in adding myself to the lease agreement for our apartment. We live in NYC and the management company in charge of our building are notoriously bad with communication. Despite numerous phone calls and emails dating back to October 2018 - we have been unable to add me to the lease. As it stands our lease was due for renewal in October 2019 but we still have not received a new lease agreement (now 2 months past the renewal date!).. Is it worthwhile bringing proof of email correspondence highlighting our attempts at trying to add me to the lease? We can supplement proof of living together with joint credit card and Bank statements mailed to our address

  • I've read that it is recommended to bring copies of previous AOS and K1 applications. Is it worthwhile to include all previously submitted evidence with this (photos, message logs, affidavit of support, etc.)? Or just the actual paperwork?

I have a copy of my vaccination record from my medical appointment with Knightsbridge Doctors in London. Would a copy of this suffice? the DS-3025 vaccination is enough, as long as you submitted AOS within 1 year of your doctor appt.

  • I received a police caution in 2006, and have previously submitted a police certificate and SAR for my AOS application. I understand I would need to request a new police certificate and SAR, as I have visited the UK since entering the US (using my AP back in April 2019 for 7 days). • I've read that it is recommended to bring copies of previous AOS and K1 applications. Is it worthwhile to include all previously submitted evidence with this (photos, message logs, affidavit of support, etc.)? Or just the actual paperwork? the more the merrier.  for sure bring photos and anything like wedding invites, wedding photos that shows you're in a bonafide marriage. vacation itinerary of you traveling together. they will not look at 80% of your stuff but it's always safe to bring them.

Take a look at this thread and you can decide for yourself what you'd like to do but in my opinion, spend the minimal extra to get new medical exam to avoid any potential delays. Our officer did not even bother to check whether our original submittal was still valid (it was as we submitted AOS well within a year of my fiance's K1 exam). In fact, one of the first items she requested was whether or not we had a new medical packet for her. In no way am I saying that this would happen to you or everyone else,  simply sharing our own personal experience.

I have no experience on this one so can't provide any input.

We can supplement proof of living together with joint credit card and Bank statements mailed to our address We were approved with what we had but again, this is purely off of our experience and not say that it holds true to all cases. I purchased my home long before I got married and the process to add someone to the mortgage is a major hassle so I didn't even bother. The officer could very well be looking for that type of evidence but in my opinion it more than likely is not required. They may take email correspondence into consideration but I doubt it. Instead, try to focus on other evidence such as shared bills, joint bank accounts, vehicle insurance, health insurance, and joint income tax from 2018. Those are the items we provided.

  • I've read that it is recommended to bring copies of previous AOS and K1 applications. Is it worthwhile to include all previously submitted evidence with this (photos, message logs, affidavit of support, etc.)? Or just the actual paperwork?  When talking about employees of the USCIS I prefer to say that they "probably will/won't, most likely will/won't, maybe will/won't, etc.." rather than "they will or won't..." do something because by now we should all know that none of us can predict what they are going to actually do. The officer should have copies of your K1 and AOS submittals, whether they are original or not I can't really say. In our case, the officer did but there were portions missing. Based on the instructions given in the letter I'm pretty sure they only require that you bring the items listed but it doesn't hurt to have copies of your AOS and K1 submittals. We brought ours just in case but none of it was asked for.

You dont need a police certificate from anywhere in the world.

If you have committed any qualifying crimes as listed you will provide the police incident/arrest reports and final court dispositions. Those are not police certificates. They are the descriptions of the crimes

If you committed no crimes ever you will submit/bring nothing.

Reading through the criminal section of the I485 instructions will help.
