The old USCIS jalopy is so old, rundown and in need of serious repair. Their missing of their own deadlines is the obvious clue that USCIS is truly in bad shape. Two glaring examples of the  types of problems brought about by the overwhelming service load dumped on USCIS is the subject of this thread.

Namely, that it takes so long for people to get their AOS processing completed in the prescribed time, The people file their paperwork as instructed and two (2) years elapse and USCIS cannot process the AOS paperwork within the allotted timeframe. So the couple should rightfully be provided with a 10-yr GC.

The other glaring example of USCIS problems is when a couple submits their I-751 petition during the correct timeframe, and then USCIS drops the ball during the ROC processing. USCIS takes so long that the LPR becomes also available to start their N-400 citizenship process while still awaiting the completion of their ROC processing. There are even recent instances where the have had their N-400 citizenship applications approved, yet the ROC petition is still awaiting processing and approval.

These situation are starting to happen with more regularity. This merely exposes the glaring need of a serious revamping of the entire immigration system. :ot:The politicians on BOTH sides of the aisle are responsible for this sad state of affairs. Our nations leaders are either too busy trying to play "king for life," while the other side is trying to dethrone the self-anointed king, and the rest of the more pressing issues facing our great country, both international and domestic have been kicked to the curb. I say kick ALL of the politicos from BOTH sides to the curb. They certainly are not working for the citizens, nor for the sake of our dear country.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

We are immigrates. We worthless to the system. Until you become a citizen, you have no value to them as you can't vote, and majority of those who vote, don't care about you since you are coming to steal their jobs.  You have your own set of rules to play the with. You are not allowed to talk, ask, or demand anything. Like when they say, we take a year or two to process your application, and you just have to sit and wait, you have totally agree and pretend it is normal to live without a clear proof status in a foreign country for two years. Don't blame it on the president because it was pretty much the same under Obama, and Bush. It just got a little worse.

We are just numbers coming from shithole countries to live over the great American welfare, and abuse the free healthcare and education systems, you know?

It is my belief that the blame for the neglect of our country is due to ALL of the politicos !

K1 AoS hardly ever takes 2 years these days, which means that people that get a 10 yr green card when adjusting from a K1 visa probably did not file before their i94 expired.

And we all know what an expired i94 means: subject to deportation, likely unable to get a DL, insurance and many other things.

Just a reminder for those that come to this thread and start thinking about "delaying" their application to skip RoC.

Just to make it clear I did file before the i94 expired like I said and made it clear my case was delayed For new medical records received and RFE for it . Took  4.5 months for a response. I lso I live in New York city go head and check the processing times 26federal plaza is very  backed up. Thanks for the feed back though

Hate to tell you but this goes in cycles.  We all got delayed in 2007 not because our spouses were “worthless immigrants” but because USCIS was flooded with applications because of an upcoming fee increase.  It backlogged processing for months.

Now USCIS is not only dealing with this, they are also dealing with a very large caseload related to overseas petitions that used to be processed there (at one time every embassy processed petitions DCF for no reason) in addition to upcoming fee increases.  It 2-3 years I expect it to cycle again, and things will return to normal.

Adding an interview to every single AOS?  Didn’t help things.  That is another reason the local offices were flooded.

I am not disagreeing with you, but the backlog started around 2017, so we going on a fourth year now, and I don't see the processing time is getting any better? They backlogged the offices, and shifted the USCIS resources to help ICE instead of doing their actual job, processing the paid applications.

High turnover, constant changes, lack of leadership, and complete utter mess. I don't want to say it won't get any worse, but honestly, I don't think it could get worse than the past few years.

Being snarky doesn't make you any smarter, you know? I said "so we going on a fourth year now,", which means, 2017, 2018, 2019, and the coming 2020, since nothing is changing overnight.
