You may no longer be a green card holder since you haven’t returned after a year of travel. Do you have the physical green card with you or did your dad take it back to America with him?

You should call or visit the US Embassy. There’s a form you can fill out to reinstate the green card. I believe they’d let you because you were a minor and left against your will. There will be a fee associated. I’m not too sure on all the information. I was hoping someone else may bring their expertise. But your best bet is to call the embassy n see what your options are.

From what I know of that process, OP would have to prove through documented evidence that they themselves (not through their parents) maintained continuous and unbroken ties to the USA during the 6 years they were abroad.  Considering the OP was a  minor at the time, not sure how much evidence they would have...or even if they would consider that he was a minor at the time he left....reinstating the green card (ie, through a SB-1 Returning Resident Visa) is generally more successful if only 1 or 2 years abroad by circumstances out of their control----as time lengthens, another matter entirely.

Does not sound there is a qualifying relative to sponsor him since I presume neither parent is a USC or LPR at this point either.  @kaleah is your mother still in the the USA?  What is her legal status?
