My Fiance was scheduled for a sputum test after she told  ST. Lukes at her KI Visa physical  that she was treated for TB in 2004.  She supplied them with all documentation from the treatment and they would not accept it.   Even though she had a clear X-Ray and there was no other testing that indicated a problem she was scheduled for a culture and St. Lukes told her to cancel the Embassy Interview.   When she complained the doctor said that because of the contract with the Embassy they could not take a chance and had to validate her prior treatment. I understand that  you can get falsified medical records, but when the E-Ray is clean this seems to be an overreach by St. Lukes.   Just trying to understand.  I want the best for her, but was this necessary.  I am not alone with this situation others were scheduled for sputum testing  the same day as well.

When my fiance(e) went back to SLEC for the pulmonary evaluation, the doctor said that there was a white fiberish on the xray that my fiance(e) couldn't see when the doctor showed her the xray. Fiance(e) has no history of TB, always had to do medical exam from her work, and she was always cleared. No idea what the doctor sees that my fiance(e) can't. Very frustrating for sure but  SLEC is required to follow CDC guidelines.

I can accept reality, and if there physical evidence that there is something present in her lungs, than so be it.   This Visa process can paint you into many corners and you have to work your way out.  I am willing to do that.  Since I am not with her during this ordeal I can only go off of what she is saying and it does appear that a large number of people were given negative reports on that day.  I want to deal with the facts and can only hope that they are subjective.

It's hard to say exactly how often it happens. PH is one of the top countries for TB cases in the world, and it also processes ~20% of all K-1s in the world (and a whole lot of IVs too). As a result, a large number of people are requested to do sputum just due to the raw number of people involved in the process + prevalence of TB cases.

They are very cautious with infectious diseases...imagine the consequences for others (both directly and future immigrants) if they missed cases at a decent rate.
