I have another question about this and I should have asked this with my previous question. Does the birthplace have to be the same on both her passport and birth certificate? My Filipina fiancee should be getting her corrected birth certificate sometime this month and she was told by one of her cousins that the birthplace had to be the same on both documents. I told her I don't believe so. I told her that her passport just needs to be valid when her eventual embassy interview takes place but it doesn't matter what the birthplace says. And it doesn't have to be the same as the birth certificate. Can someone tell me if I am correct or am I wrong about this? She wants to go ahead and get a new passport which will not hurt anything since the initial k1 visa petition hasn't been sent out yet. I asked her if she would let me ask the lawyer about this and I wanted to post this question here before she decides to do anything.

Is it the same province but different city?

YMMV

Her passport and birth certificate are in the same province yes, but the city on the passport is different. On her current passport, the birth place is San Policarpo. But on her new birth certificate, the birth place is Oras. The province for both places is eastern Samar. So once again for those trying to help, does the birth place need to be the same on both her passport and birth certificate or does it not matter?

Honestly, I think this is another Filipino gossip issue because it shouldn't be a problem. The time the interview comes around you will show her BC, Passport, and the NBI clearance which in the Philippines counts as a ID as well.

So you will be fine

Not sure if DFA will find the need to update the passport ...  DFA is who should be asked regarding this.
